Andy Reid's Villanova manse for sale at $2.3 million

The former Villanova home of ex-Eagles coach Andy Reid has seen plenty of interest from brokers, but no buyers yet at its price tag of $2.3 million, according to listing agent Kevin Murphy of Main Line Executive Realty in Bryn Mawr.

Reid, a college football star at Brigham Young University, won a Super Bowl as an assistant coach at Green Bay, then became a multimillionaire head coach of the NFL's Philadelphia franchise before leaving for Kansas City in 2013.

Reid's 15-year-old, five-bedroom house at 1215 Page Terrace has been on the market for about a month, according to Murphy. "This is a marquee listing for another athlete, a CEO, or someone who belongs to the country clubs or golf clubs around Lower Merion, or wants to send their kids to the best schools.

"This is a house for someone who could live anywhere in the country."

Murphy recently held a brokers' open house, and said many of the 35 agents who attended took note of the opal granite countertops, cedar closets, heated driveway, and massive kitchen island.

The house was custom-built for the Reids, and Murphy still has the blueprints. "It was their dream home," including a three-car garage that housed Reid's refurbished classic Ford Model A, he added. Reid's wife, Tammy, had a generator installed, which kept their power on during last year's ice storm. "Everyone else was staying at the Conshohocken Marriott, but they still had the lights on," he said.

The price means the house has only a handful of showings, Murphy said. "This is a very different animal. If it were a $500,000 listing in Lower Merion Township, then we'd get a lot of foot traffic." With 8,000 square feet and $34,000 a year in taxes, the Reids' manse shows by appointment only.
