Ss. Neumann-Goretti High's boys' basketball team will spend winter break at the beach.

The Delaware Sports Commission yesterday announced the national slate of high school teams participating in the Slam Dunk to the Beach basketball tournament, set for Dec. 27-29 at Cape Henlopen High School in Lewes, Del.

Neumann-Goretti is a four-time state champion.

National powerhouse programs competing include: Sunrise Christian Academy (Wichita, Kan.), Roselle Catholic (Roselle, N.J.), St. Vincent-St. Mary's High School (Akron, Ohio) and Gill St. Bernards School (Gladstone, N.J.).

The 14-team tournament is returning for the first time since 2003. In its 13-year history, it has hosted current NBA All-Stars LeBron James, Dwight Howard and Carmelo Anthony.

"When I took over as a coach we went there my first few years," Neumann-Goretti head coach Carl Arrigale said. "It's a big-time tournament and we don't have to get on an airplane so it gives our fans a chance to come see us. I'm glad Nike is picking it back up."
