Scout talk (via Grantland): If the medical staff clears him, he should go No. 1, but people are still freaked out about [2007 No. 1 pick Greg] Oden.

Before the concerns about his back - which are real, by the way - I'd be very comfortable taking him 1 or 2. Has all the ingredients: feet, hands, touch. I've watched him in practice, and he was automatic from 15 feet, which is something we didn't see him use a lot at Kansas.

Personal: Began playing at one of NBA player Luc Richard Mbah a Moute's basketball camps in Cameroon when he was 16 years old . . . Transferred to The Rock School to play his senior year . . . While there, Embiid led the school to its first state championship in school history.

Scout talk (NBAdraft.net): At 6-10, it is very hard to find anyone in the world with the skills he possesses to play with or without the ball . . . He can push it in transition as well as posting up with good results . . . very aggressive on the boards . . . Has high IQ and understanding of spacing.
