Man dies after shooting in Nicetown-Tioga

A 24-year-old man died after being shot several times inside his car early Friday in the Nicetown-Tioga section of the city, police said. The man was driving a 1994 Mercury Grand Marquis south on the 3700 block of Germantown Avenue when the shooting occurred at 2:15 a.m., police said.

The bullets appeared to strike him three times in the torso and back, police said.

The man, whose identity has not been released, was taken to Temple University Hospital, where he was pronounced dead at 4:17 a.m., police said.

Two other people were in the car during the shooting, but neither was injured.

The suspect is described as a black male in his early 20s, with a thin to medium build. He wore a black hooded sweatshirt and was last seen walking toward Butler Street. Police said the motive was unknown.
