5 injured in four Phila. shootings

Three people were injured, one critically, in two shootings in Philadelphia early Saturday, police said, after two shootings Friday that wounded two men.

None of the wounded were identified, and no arrests were reported.

At 2:08 a.m. Saturday, on the 4700 block of Vista Street in Holmesburg, a 29-year-old man was found with multiple gunshot wounds to the back, according to police. He told authorities he was smoking a cigarette when he heard gunshots behind him and was hit. He was taken to Aria Health's Torresdale campus in critical condition, police said.

Two hours earlier in Kensington, an 18-year-old male and 14-year-old male were shot on East Atlantic Street approaching Frankford Avenue, police said. The older victim was hit in the leg, police said. The younger boy was hit multiple times, but police did not specify where. Both were taken to Temple University Hospital in stable condition, police said.

At 9:38 p.m. Friday, a 24-year-old man was shot in the left shoulder while driving his Volkswagen on the 3300 block of Cumberland Street in Strawberry Mansion, police said. He was found nearby, on the 2500 block of Spangler Street, and was taken to Temple University Hospital in stable condition.

A 23-year-old man was shot in the head, stomach, and groin on the 2500 block of Ridge Avenue in North Philadelphia just before 5 p.m. Friday, police said. He was taken to Hannehmann University Hospital in critical condition, police said.

Two men may have fled in a white Chevrolet Impala, according to police.
