Ex-Imhotep star won't attend Kansas junior college

Posted: July 20, 2014

Former Imhotep Charter basketball star Brandon Austin will not enroll at a Kansas community college after the school's president declined to admit him because of sexual assault allegations against him.

Austin, 20, was suspended from Providence in November after police investigated him and a teammate in a sexual assault. He transferred to Oregon in January and was suspended in May after police investigated him and two teammates in another sexual assault. Authorities declined to press charges in both cases based on a lack of evidence.

His attorney Laura Fine Moro said last week that Austin was headed to Hutchinson Community College, a junior-college power in central Kansas.

Austin was ranked by ESPN as the nation's No. 56 recruit in 2013. He originally committed to Penn State but changed his mind and went to Providence. He led Imhotep to three Public League championships and three state titles.
