Cops: Teen dead after N. Phila. stabbing

Posted: July 25, 2014

A TEEN WAS dead last night, cut down on a North Philly block not far from where he lived.

Just after 7:15 p.m., police found the 19-year-old stabbed in the right side of his chest at 21st Street and Indiana Avenue, Chief Inspector Scott Small said.

He had collapsed in front of the Redeemer's Deliverance Church. A blood trail charted his path from the opposite corner of 21st Street, from where he staggered after the stabbing, according to Small.

Emergency medical personnel took him to Temple University Hospital, where he was pronounced dead just after 8 p.m., Small said.

Investigators were probing the area for clues last night, but there was little to go on: No witnesses were found, and surveillance footage from a nearby corner store didn't capture the violent attack.

A person of interest was being interviewed by Homicide Unit detectives, Small said.

No information on a motive was available.
