Report: Sixers involved in 3-team deal

Posted: August 06, 2014

ACCORDING TO ESPN's Brian Windhorst, the Sixers will be involved in the Kevin Love trade between the Minnesota Timberwolves and Cleveland Cavaliers.

Windhorst, along with ESPN colleague Marc Stein, reported last week that a trade sending Love to the Cavaliers for Andrew Wiggins, 2013 No. 1 overall pick Anthony Bennett and a future first-round pick is widely regarded around the league as a "when" not "if" deal, with sources saying the Wolves and Cavaliers continue to discuss the prospect of bringing a third team such as the Sixers into the trade.

Yesterday, Windhorst, who is close to LeBron James and the Cleveland situation, said the Sixers probably will be sending Thaddeus Young to Minnesota, with Minnesota sending back Bennett and possibly some draft picks.

It has been widely reported that the Timberwolves see Young as a replacement for Love at power forward.

Bennett had an awful rookie season due to sleep apnea and a shoulder injury. He was out of shape most of the season and was a huge disappointment. The 6-8, 259-pounder, who hails from Toronto, averaged 4.2 points and 3.0 rebounds in 12.8 minutes. He did, however, show signs of coming around. Bennett dropped 18 pounds and was very active in the Las Vegas Summer League.

Because Wiggins has signed his rookie deal, he can not be dealt for 30 days following the signing, which means the deal can't be completed until at least Aug. 23.
