IF YOU THINK Michael Vick is ticked off at Riley Cooper well . . . think again.

The Jets' quarterback downplayed an ESPN.com report that quoted him as being annoyed that Cooper didn't seem grateful that Vick helped smooth over the Eagles wide receiver's N-word controversy.

According to Vick spokesman Chris Shigas, Vick spoke with Cooper yesterday afternoon and they are "all good."

In fact, Vick said he will greet Cooper when they meet at tonight's preseason finale at the Linc.

According to Shigas, Vick said he didn't mean his remarks to come out the way they did.

According to the online report, Vick - then still with the Eagles - took credit for helping defusing tensions among teammates after a video surfaced showing Cooper shouting the N-word at a security guard at a concert in Philly last summer.

"I just felt like I was the most capable guy on that team of taking a stand for Riley," said Vick. "Guys [on the team] were mad at me for a while. They were upset with me for a day or two, like six or seven guys who were just like, 'Really, how could you do that?'

"They might not have forgotten about it, but they forgave him. We had guys talking about knocking him out, taking his head off, doing X, Y and Z to him on the field, and none of that happened, out of respect for myself, I think. But I took that stand for him, man, and I just hope at the end of the day that he appreciates that."

Vick called the intervention, "the best thing I've done as a professional athlete."

Since then, Vick said, things have happened that seem to indicate that Riley just doesn't get it.

"A couple of things transpired since that I dislike, and I'll be honest with you," Vick said. "After he signed his contract, I sent him a text and I never got a text back, and that made me feel a certain type of way. But I'm not the type of guy who holds grudges."
