Stockton tops Swarthmore

Erin Gluck recorded a natural hat trick in a span of four minutes Thursday, but Swarthmore (0-3) fell to host Richard Stockton, 6-3, in a field hockey game in Galloway, N.J.

Samantha Barcia (Eastern) led the way for Stockton (2-0) with a hat trick of her own.

Neumann 2, Widener 1 - The Knights (1-2) needed double overtime, but they notched their first victory since 2004 over the Pride (0-2). Carolynn Bacho (Holy Cross) scored the game-winner 53 seconds into the second OT.

Women's soccer. Patrice Maro (Haddon Township) and Shannon Reardigan (Glassboro) each scored a goal, and Courtney Shaw (Villa Joseph Marie) made seven saves as Philadelphia University defeated host Holy Family, 2-0, in the season and Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference opener for both teams.

Wesley 1, Gwynedd Mercy 0 - A goal by Cassidy McSorley (Haddon Township) in the 62d minute gave Wesley (2-0) a win at Gwynedd Mercy (1-2). Jess Tadley (Cherry Hill West) made seven saves for the Griffins.

La Salle names hoops director. Gina Catanzariti is La Salle's new director of women's basketball operations, coach Jeff Williams said.

Catanzariti joins the Explorers' staff after two years as an assistant at Wagner. A three-year starter for Rowan, she got her coaching start as an assistant at Washington Township High in Gloucester County.
