"We really are leaving no stone unturned with trying to get him to return to play."
The coach said that Embiid is being closely monitored. He took part in what appeared to be agility drills after the Sixers' shootaround at Santa Monica High School on Friday. Brown said that Embiid also worked out on the sand of a beach.
Embiid has yet to play for the team after being selected third overall in the 2014 draft.
He had bone-graft surgery to repair the navicular bone in his right foot in August. He will miss the entire season. The former Kansas standout already has missed what would have been his rookie season after undergoing surgery in June 2014 to repair a stress fracture in the same bone. A setback in his recovery led to the second operation.
Hollis Thompson did not play against the Los Angeles Lakers on Friday night at the Staples Center. The reserve guard's status for Saturday's game against the Clippers at the same arena was doubtful.
Thompson suffered a corneal abrasion in his right eye Wednesday in a victory at Sacramento. The Sixers didn't realize something was wrong until he was unable to check into the game early in the third quarter.
Brown said he thinks Thompson will return in time for the game against the Minnesota Timberwolves on Monday at the Wells Fargo Center.
"They had an ultraviolet photo of it," Brown said. "It's quite amazing. You can actually see quite clearly the scratch. I don't think you are going to see him play against the Clippers."
