GALLOWAY, N.J. - Anna Nordqvist started playing golf at home in Sweden when she was 12 years old, while Annika Sorenstam - another Swede - was well on her way toward dominating the LPGA Tour, where she finished with 72 wins, including 10 major titles. The achievements of Sorenstam, who retired in 2008, were remembered Sunday at the ShopRite LPGA Classic when Nordqvist tied her record for lowest 54-hole score and posted a 1-stroke victory in the tournament at Stockton Seaview Hotel and Golf Club.

GALLOWAY, N.J. - Anna Nordqvist broke out a calm and collected fist pump after a tap-in for bogey on the 501-yard 18th hole. The modest celebration yesterday would not have led the casual observer to believe that she had won a golf tournament. But with the tap-in, she clinched the 2015 ShopRite LPGA Classic title, her fifth on the LPGA Tour and her first since March 2014. Her overall score of 8-under 205 bested the field by one stroke in the three-round event at Stockton Seaview Hotel and Golf Club.

GALLOWAY, N.J. - The good news for Anna Nordqvist is that her mother, Maria, once again will come from overseas to South Jersey to watch her compete in this year's ShopRite LPGA Classic and hopefully bring her the same kind of mojo that helped her daughter gain the victory a year ago. But the better news for the 28-year-old Nordqvist comes a little more than two months after the 54-hole tournament at Stockton Seaview Resort - a flight to Rio to...

GALLOWAY, N.J. - Anna Nordqvist doesn't show much emotion on the course. Even after a bogey on 18 sealed her the win Sunday at the ShopRite LPGA Classic, Nordqvist casually fished her ball out of the hole before lightly high-fiving her caddie. But when she spotted her mother, Maria, while walking off the course, Nordqvist shrieked before wrapping her in a hug. Maria has been visiting from Nordqvist's native Sweden for the last couple of weeks, and was front and center for the fifth win of her daughter's career.

He had a 9-under 63 for his lowest round of the year, putting him in a tie for the lead with Henrik Stenson and Bio Kim at the Children's Miracle Network Classic in Lake Buena Vista, Fla. Hometown favorite Sergio Garcia shot an 8-under 63 to take a 2-shot lead at the Castello Masters in Castellon, Spain. Playing where he was club champion at the age of 12, Garcia eagled the par-5 No. 8 to move to 12 under.

GALLOWAY, N.J. - Karine Icher kept making birdies in bunches Saturday at the ShopRite LPGA Classic, but she chose not to keep track of them, preferring rather to count them up as soon as her final putt hit the bottom of the cup. Once she did count them up, the score came out to a 9-under-par 62, tying the tournament course record and moving the 37-year-old citizen of France into a 1-stroke lead after two rounds of the $1.5 million event over the Bay...

GALLOWAY, N.J. - Anna Nordqvist tapped in her last shot Sunday for the championship of the ShopRite LPGA Classic, walked into a celebratory spray of champagne delivered by fellow players, and gave a big hug to her mother, who has been visiting from Sweden. She certainly didn't look like a player who had thought about doing something else besides playing professional golf just a couple of years ago. Nordqvist, 27, made her big move late in the final round. She sank birdie putts at the 16th and 17th holes of the Bay Course at Stockton Seaview Golf Club and Spa to take the lead for good and picked up her first LPGA Tour title of the year, a 1-stroke victory over Christel Boeljon.

GALLOWAY, N.J. – Morgan Pressel isn't exactly a grizzled veteran at 27 years old but this already is her 10th year on the LPGA Tour. What's interesting to her, in a somewhat amusing way, is hearing younger players now coming on to the tour mention that they followed Pressel when they were kids. "I know, I'm so old," Pressel laughed Friday after completing her opening round in the ShopRite LPGA Classic with a 5-under-par 66, good for a 1-stroke lead. "It is kind of funny because I've been asked that question a lot. " Pressel showed the youngsters and the rest of the 144-player field on the Bay Course at the Stockton Seaview Golf Club and Spa that she could score even though "I wouldn't say that I certainly had the best game out there," she said.
