On opening night of the season, the Rancocas Valley girls' soccer team made a big statement, earning a 2-1 road win over Burlington County Liberty Division rival Moorestown on Thursday. RV junior goalie Alex Tamashunas was equally instrumental, recording nine saves, including two diving, game-saving stops in the second half. "It felt like November soccer in September," said RV coach Jay Flanagan. "It was intense, it was highly physical, Moorestown is very good, so to pull out a win, obviously we're very happy.
