Girls Last time, when the San Francisco duo of Christopher Owens and Chet "J.R. " White known as Girls released their debut album, Album , in 2009, they had plenty of backstory to introduce them. Owens spent his youth traveling the world in the Children of God cult, forbidden to listen to music made by outsiders. Yet he somehow emerged a startlingly sensitive songwriter whose music internalized the influences of the Beach Boys, Elvis Costello, and the Everly Brothers. Not that his story's old hat, but we move on to Father, Son, Holy Ghost, the second fuller and thickly produced Girls' album, which must get by on the merits of its music alone.

Ramadan Bayyan is a good defender. He's a good midfielder. He's a good striker, too. The Cherry Hill West senior can play anywhere on the soccer field. His versatility is a big reason the Lions are a serious contender for the Olympic Patriot title as well as the South Jersey Group 4 crown. Question: Do you take pride in your ability to play different positions? Answer: I do. That's the thing that I'm probably best known for. I like the challenge of playing different positions.

The 31st edition of Power 99-FM's Powerhouse 2013 Friday at the Wells Fargo Center was, as usual, an all-night affair (1 a.m.-ish) dedicated to the current state of radiocentric hip-hop and packed to the rafters. That's standard for Powerhouse, plus its long lineup, which this time found notorious lectro-crooner Chris Brown, rap's artiste du jour Kendrick Lamar, and Philly's Meek Mill atop its bill. With those top-tier singer/MCs as headliners, strong support was necessary. Powerhouse 2013 featured openers that packed a punch, no doubt.

But on Friday night, he'll be in the Czech Republic, at the Hip Hop Kemp Festival, as part of a lineup that includes Czech rappers Vladimir 518 and Ektor & DJ Wich. That's lot of miles to cover. How you going to do that, Kane? "Ask me on Sunday," the Grammy winner says, laughing. He'd fly even farther to take part in the annual Lady B Basement Party Live at the Dell Music Center.

Jay-Z fulfilled his vision of bringing an electric and eclectic music festival to the heart of the city on the Benjamin Franklin Parkway on Saturday, headlining the first day of what he called the "first annual Made in America festival. " Jay-Z's razor-sharp and supremely confident performance, in which he enlisted the assistance of his partner in rhyme, Kanye West, as well as President Obama (in a prerecorded video), capped a nine-hour day filled with top-shelf performances from a range of rappers and electronic music acts and a smattering of indie rockers, giving Made in America a running start in carving out a niche as a uniquely urban-electronic mega-event in the crowded music festival season.

The great feud between two of entertainment's most prominent women is over. Relief and joy are ours. E! channel talk-show panjandrum Chelsea Handler and genius promoter (she is, she is, no matter what else one thinks) and faux reality-TV master Kris Jenner have kissed and made pancakes, it says here. For two years, Kris had been slowly, silently burning up over Chelsea's snark avalanche about the Jenner/Kardashian Dynasty . The two never spoke. But now - robins sing, pine trees chirp, bears cut a waltz in the brook.
