Bill Cosby will try to return to TV's laugh land next fall, in a sitcom produced by the same people who helped make NBC's The Cosby Show a TV phenomenon of the '80s. This time, he'll be on CBS, network executives announced yesterday, their buttons bursting. The new show, based on the British comedy, One Foot in the Grave, is part of a big deal that ties Cosby to CBS for a long time, they said. Nobody would say for how long (Cosby joked he'd stay at least as long as David Letterman)

Erinn Cosby, who left a Rhode Island drug rehabilitation facility nine days ago, said she began a cocaine habit four years ago but her parents had no inkling of it until she told them in a letter six months ago. At that time, her habit had reached $200 a day. "People see Bill Cosby as a super dad," the comedian's 23-year-old daughter is quoted as saying in this week's National Enquirer. "But I'm proof that drug and alcohol tragedies can happen even in the most loving families. " The TV star is quoted as saying that he responded to her situation with "tough love" and advised her to seek treatment.

You might say Hank Julicher is a genuine Sunkist worshiper. To him, life is just an orange. "You squeeze and squeeze until nothing is left," he said. "I got plenty of juice left. " Julicher does nothing halfway. As the founder of Julicher Athletic Facilities Inc. in Conshohocken, he turned a fondness for tennis into a multimillion-dollar, international business. Julicher is flamboyant, outspoken and not the least bit modest. And he's a six-time college dropout. "My major was matriculation," he said.

ENOUGH already with Bill Cosby and his diatribe about how black kids don't speak correct English, and blaming it on the parents. Although it's true that many teenagers speak poorly, and walk a crooked path, you can blame a lot of it on the movies, with their violence, and the rock concerts and the way life is portrayed among the poor, with drugs, and bad homelife, etc. Bill Cosby - all of this is not new. Get off your high horse and stick...

How enjoyable it was to read the excerpts from Bill Cosby's book. It was so refreshing to read of his high values on family life and television viewing. Is it possible that one of the reasons The Cosby Show is No. 1 is because many Americans have had their fill of sex, violence and four-letter words? I sure hope so. I thank God for the caliber and talents of Bill Cosby and the others on his show. Mildred Schaible Philadelphia.
