For Chelsea Handler, it's always happy hour. In every sense. That breathtakingly snarky sense of humor she trains on celebrities on her late-night series, Chelsea Lately (11 p.m., E!)? It isn't an act that she drops as soon as the stage lights go off. That's her genuine personality. "My show is very representative of who I am during the day," she says on the phone from the Los Angeles facility where her show is taped. "I'm not going to mouth some opinion just for effect, because the audience can smell that from a mile away.

IN "THIS Means War," two secret agents use their spy-craft to compete for a perky blonde. Sounds like a classic Hollywood screwball comedy setup. Throw in attractive stars Reese Witherspoon, Chris Pine, Tom Hardy, flip a few SUVs, and what could go wrong? Well, you could hire a director like McG, who made his reputation, such as it is, with the "Charlie's Angels" movies, then tried making movies about actual humans with "We Are Marshall. " That turned out to be phenomenally unprofitable, so he's back in "Angel's" mode here - candy-colored, light show set to pounding, ceaseless house music.

In your face: Kim K's cheeks You can't get away. It's everywhere. It's where you've been, and it's waiting for you where you're going. We speak, of course, of Kim Kardashian 's bottom. This, the most famous bottom in the world, is indeed her moneymaker, and she knows it well. It's out in the open a lot, and on Tuesday it blew a smoking crater in the social-media world when, oiled, well-lit, and photographed by French art photog Jean-Paul Goude , it graced the cover of the mag Paper.

REMEMBER how exhilarating last week was with the LeBron Decision 2014, taking his talents home to Cleveland? It all stopped Thursday with the passings of notable artistic types (irrascible actress Elaine Stritch , musician Jonny Winter and lovable nerd Archie ) and some unforeseen, heavy global events. Sigh. Carry on. Yesterday * Lifelong rocker Sir Mick Jagger opened up during a "Today" show interview about his late lady friend, fashion designer L'Wren Scott , who committed suicide in March.

JUST THINKING about late-night TV is beginning to make me sleepy. One Jimmy replaces Jay, another bumps "Nightline. " A now 67-year-old man named Dave tells a shaggy-bird story that ends with the announcement that sometime next year he'll retire after what by then will be 33 years as a late-night host. The speculation about his successor begins before the show's even aired. The lists are long, they're diverse - people of color, even (gasp) women are mentioned - but no one seriously thinks CBS hadn't surveyed the field long before David Letterman and his son, Harry, spotted that immature bald eagle.

Hi, I'm Jennifer Hudson , and I'm on Chelsea Handler 's late-night gabfest, so I plop down in the chair - and the front of my xtra-tite dress unzips . "Oh, my God!" Chels screams about 42 times as she turns me back-to-camera and tries to help. Awkward.   The smaller, the quicker . . . Mariah Carey has been flashin' a series of designer arm slings since July, with a slow-mending right shoulder dislocation incurred when she fell during a video session. But she's just about well, she says, and a new album is a-bornin'.
