The Kixx missed an opportunity to enhance their Major Indoor Soccer League playoff chances last night, falling to the Chicago Storm, 11-6, at the Wachovia Spectrum. The Kixx (15-11), who got two goals from Genoni Martinez, dropped to third place after the loss to the Storm, who entered the game just 10-11. Only four games remain in the regular season, and five teams are within 3 1/2 games, fighting for the league's four playoff spots. Rookie Stephen Armstrong, who leads the Storm with 23 goals, had a hat trick for the visitors.

The Kixx lost their seventh straight Major Indoor Soccer League game yesterday, falling by 8-4 to the Chicago Storm at the UIC Pavilion. Novi Marojevic scored the decisive goal for the Storm at 6 minutes, 30 seconds of the third quarter. Kixx goalie Peter Pappas (4-11) made 17 saves on 23 shots. Chicago's Danny Waltman stopped six of 10 shots. Pat Morris, John Barry Nusum, Gary DePalma and Shawn Boney scored for the Kixx (4-12).

The Kixx blew a four-goal lead and lost to the Chicago Storm, 8-6, last night in a Major Indoor Soccer League game at the UIC Pavilion in Chicago. Storm forward Mark Ughy scored the winning goal on a pass from Matthew Stewart at 13 minutes, 13 seconds of the fourth quarter. The Kixx have lost four straight. Kixx goalie Stuart Dobson suffered the loss in his season debut. He made 11 saves on 19 chances. Jeff Richey earned the victory for Chicago, turning away 13 of 19 shots.

The Kixx got just one goal last night and lost their third consecutive game in the Major Indoor Soccer League, falling to the Chicago Storm, 9-2, at the Wachovia Spectrum. The defending league champions got a two-point goal from Pat Morris early in the third quarter to tie the game, 2-2. But nothing went right after that and the Kixx fell to 2-7 while Chicago improved to 6-1. Mariano Bollella scored just 51 seconds into the game, and that held up for a 2-0 Chicago lead into halftime.

The Kixx can clinch an MISL playoff spot today after beating the Chicago Storm, 18-11, yesterday at the Sears Centre. The Kixx (15-9), who pulled into a tie for first place with Detroit, would be the first team to clinch a playoff spot with a win today over the Wave in Milwaukee. Six games remain. Kixx captain Pat Morris, who scored yesterday, has 21 points in his last five games. The Kixx were up by 10-0 midway through the third quarter as Genoni Martinez, Don D'Ambra, John Barry Nusum, Steve Wacker and Ptah Myers scored.

The Kixx dropped their third consecutive game last night, falling to the last-place Orlando Sharks, 10-6, in the Major Indoor Soccer League. The last win for the Kixx (7-11) - and their only win in their last five games - was a 20-8 destruction of Orlando (2-16) at home on Jan. 12. Last night's game, at Amway Arena, was the second straight win for the expansion Sharks. The Kixx were without all-star goalie Peter Pappas for the second game in a row. Pappas suffered a neck injury against the Chicago Storm on Jan. 18. Rookie Nick Hovaker was given his third start of the season in net.

The Kixx lost three players in yesterday's MISL expansion draft. The new Chicago Storm selected midfielders Andy Guastaferro and Hugo Alcaraz-Cuellar, and defender Mauricio Vincello. Guastaferro, who made his professional indoor debut with the Kixx last season, was the third overall selection by Chicago. The native of Canandaigua, N.Y., had 11 goals and seven assists for 18 points in 34 games in his rookie season. Vincello, a native of Salto, Argentina, was selected with the 13th pick in the expansion draft.

Shawn Boney scored a season-high three goals, including the game-winner, to lead the Kixx over the Chicago Storm, 9-4, last night in a Major Indoor Soccer League game at the UIC Pavilion in Chicago. The Kixx scored twice in just 20 seconds in the third period to beat the Chicago Storm, 3-2, in an MISL game in the Wachovia Spectrum. The club's defense held Chicago without a goal in the first half, but the Storm took a 2-1 lead late in the third period. The Kixx' Drew Kopp tied the score, 2-2, connecting on a pass from Goran Vasic at 10 minutes, 20 seconds into the period. A mere twenty seconds later (10:40), goalkeeper Peter Pappas recorded his first assist of the season by delivering a long ball to John Barry Nusum, who blasted his team-leading sixth goal to give the Kixx a 3-2 lead.

The Kixx dropped an 18-9 decision to the Chicago Storm yesterday at the Wachovia Spectrum. The Kixx were without all-MISL goalkeeper Peter Pappas, who suffered an eye injury in a game Saturday against Milwaukee. The Kixx (10-12) had their three-game winning streak snapped and fell to 0-3 against Chicago (13-7) this season. Chicago opened the game up with three straight goals by Ben Chavolla, Gabriel Cigliano and John Ball. Ball also assisted on Cigliano's goal. The Kixx scored in the second quarter when David Castellanos headed a pass from player-coach Don D'Ambra past Chicago keeper Jeff Richey.

Matthew Stewart scored twice as the Chicago Storm blew out to an 8-0 lead and beat the Kixx, 14-8, in an MISL game last night at the Sears Centre. The defending MISL champions fell to 7-9. The Storm improved to 14-8. Kixx goalkeeper Peter Pappas left the game near the end of the first half after taking a shot to the face from close range. With 2 minutes, 43 second to go in the half, Pappas took a ball in the face and had to leave the game with an eye injury. No information on the severity of the injury was released.

The Kixx dropped the first game of a home-and-home MISL playoff series, 11-8, to the Chicago Storm last night. The teams meet in the Spectrum tonight to decide the semifinal series. A Kixx win would force a sudden-death mini-game, with the first goal deciding the series. A Storm win would complete the sweep send Chicago to the MISL finals. Mark Ughy gave the Storm a 9-6 lead in the third quarter. The Kixx's Dino Delevski cut the deficit to 9-8, but Mariano Bollella clinched game for the Storm with the night's final goal.

Dino Delevski scored the winning goal last night as the Kixx stopped the Chicago Storm, 10-8, in an MISL game at the Sears Centre in Hoffman Estates, Ill. The victory lifted the Kixx (6-3) into first place in the standings, a half-game ahead of the Storm (6-4). Kixx player-coach Don D'Ambra had tied the score, 8-8, with his second goal of the game, at 10 minutes, 21 seconds of the fourth quarter. Tony DiDonatelli recorded the assist on the play, his second of the game. D'Ambra's two-goal performance marked the fourth consecutive outing in which the Philadelphia native recorded at least a pair of goals; he has a team-high 29 points.
