TO OP-ED columnist Michelle Malkin (Nov. 18): Christina Aguilera is 21 years old. She has been a legal adult for three years and can even drive a car. As an adult, she is entitled to make her own decisions and do as she pleases. I know that the "role model" scenario played over in your mind when your 2-year-old asked you about that Rolling Stone cover, but Christina appearing on the cover nude does not make her a skank. It sells magazines. Maybe she, like the rest of the world, has grown out of her Mouseketeer phase and become something a bit more mature?

According to Us Weekly's Web site, Aguilera walked the aisle in a Christian Lacroix gown. As usual, no one seems to care what the groom wore. In other love news, the producer of "Brokeback Mountain" says the real-life romance between Heath Ledger and Michelle Williams was a gift. About 25 years ago, colleagues and contemporaries Cher and Meryl Streep walked out of "Silkwood" with a couple of Oscar nominations. Streep went on to earn many more, playing women who embraced a relatable, natural condition - plausible human aging. Cher, on the other hand, made "Moonstruck" and then underwent cryogenesis, or something like it, emerging recently to play a cabaret owner-performer in "Burlesque. " It's reported that she looks "fabulous," a euphemism to describe a state of preservation achieved via the vigorous application of medicine, makeup, photography and ostrich feathers.

What Christina Aguilera wants is to talk about: her new all-Spanish album Mi Reflejo, the holiday disc My Kind of Christmas, due out next month, and her tour, which arrives at the E-Centre tonight, with hip-hop/R&B trio Destiny's Child opening. And she's only got 10 minutes. But never fear. Though the 19-year-old pint-size singer with the Mariah-size voice is calling between a soundcheck and a performance in Vermont, and she has lots and lots of interviews to do, the New Mickey Mouse Club graduate is an old pro when it comes to speedy self-promotion.

Let's get the bad news out of the way first as we recap the year in TV. In 2012, we lost Mayberry's Sheriff Andy Taylor, J.R. Ewing, George Jefferson, two dance-party kings with the initials D.C., Barnabas Collins, the cutest Monkee, the skipper of PT-73, and Family Feud 's kissing bandit. The good news? We gained Honey Boo Boo. You do the math. TLC's tiny, tubby yahoo was a rebuke to all of you who wrote me declaring that TV could not get any lower than Jersey Shore . Ha!

Pop Christina Aguilera Lotus (RCA **1/2) There are vocalists whose every utterance is an unqualified thing of beauty. They could sing the phone book and make it sound as heavenly as the Bible. Christina Aguilera has that force - a voice with dynamic highs that could shatter glass-block, lows that could tear tar from the streets, lustrous subtlety that provokes tears. The problem is that sometimes, after several phone books, it's hard to get excited by sheer beauty alone.

How else will Christina Aguilera learn the gravity of that most heinous of Super Bowl fumbles, mangling "The Star-Spangled Banner"!?! Aguilera changed the line, "O'er the ramparts we watch'd, were so gallantly streaming," to, "What so proudly we watched at the twilight's last reaming. " Yikes!
