The Phillies' top minor-league affiliate announced Tuesday it is set to debut a "urinal gaming system" at its ballpark in Allentown next week. The Lehigh Valley IronPigs tapped a British company to install the system in men's restrooms at Coca-Cola Park. A display is mounted above each urinal. When a fan approaches, the urinal switches into gaming mode. Aiming left or right controls play on the screen. Upon completion (an average of over 50 seconds), users get a score and code to enter.

Pitching is pitching, according to Jeff Singer and Dylan Johannink. Starting or relieving, the job is the same: Throw strikes, change speeds, trust the fielders. Singer and Johannink were starters for their high school teams. They were relievers Tuesday for the Burlington County team in the 26th annual Carpenter Cup Classic. But despite new roles and steady rain, both seniors seized command on the mound and led Burlington County to a 7-4 victory over Suburban One League American/Continental at Richie Ashburn Field in FDR Park.

ALLENTOWN - Next stop in Brian Gordon's dream season is Yankee Stadium. Gordon celebrated his release from the Phillies organization Tuesday night after learning he would be pitching for the New York Yankees. Just before the triple-A Lehigh Valley IronPigs were about to leave the home clubhouse at Coca-Cola Park for their game against Louisville, Gordon received a phone call from Phillies assistant general manager Chuck LaMar. "He told me he just got off the phone with my agent and the Yankees wanted to put me in the big leagues right now . . . and the Phillies, for that to happen, had to give me my release," Gordon said.

1. Reliever Justin Friend was promoted from double-A Reading to triple-A Lehigh Valley on Thursday, but you have to wonder if he is awake yet to realize it. Friend and his Fightin Phils teammates took a seven-hour bus ride from Portland, Maine, and arrived in Reading around 6 a.m. Thursday. Upon arrival, Friend was told about the promotion and that he had to report to Coca-Cola Park in Allentown for a 10:35 a.m. game. When the IronPigs finished their game with Louisville, Friend and his new teammates got on a bus for a seven-hour ride to Durham, N.C. 2. Double-A Reading had lost nine of its last 10 entering the weekend, and that might not have been the most depressing aspect of the Fightin Phils' plight.

ALLENTOWN - As he trotted out for the start of the ninth inning Saturday, Catholic League leftfielder Shane Williams had a friendly exchange with the third-base umpire, a longtime acquaintance. Williams: "We're coming back. We're going to win. " Ump: "Oh, you are?" Williams: "Yeah, did you hear what happened against Delco?" Ump: "I did. " Williams: "Same thing's gonna happen. " Only time will tell whether Williams, a 6-1, 185-pound sophomore at St. Joseph's Prep, is the heir apparent to Sylvia Browne (or would even want to be)
