From 1981 to 1986 you didn't have to live in Hollywood to see stars. Thanks to Dancin' on Air, local streets teemed with TV personalities, some of whom you may catch tonight at the DOA Reunion at Adelphia in Deptford. Broadcast live on Mix 95.7, the DOA Reunion will be DJ'd by Frank Cerami and include clips and interviews from the show. It's been five years since the last get-together of the popular regional dance show. Jade Starling and Frankie "Double Dutch Bus" Smith appeared at that 1999 event.

Clean-cut kids still can get on camera as "Dancin' on Air," Channel 17's updated version of "American Bandstand," finishes up its second day of taping today in and around Wildwood's Convention Hall, Davis Avenue & the Boardwalk. Two episodes are scheduled for taping today, the first at 1:30 p.m., the second an hour later. Admission for one or both shows is $3.50. In the event of rain, the taping will take place inside Convention Hall. Last October, restaurateur Jim Latz let his brother Mack take over the Knife & Fork Inn, Atlantic City's best-known steak and seafood house, and devoted himself to what has been his primary passion for more than 17 years: running.

LOOKS LIKE "Dancin' on Air" has been resurrected. Mike Nise , executive producer of the 1980s teen dance show, said yesterday that he has a "verbal agreement" with MyPHL17 to air new episodes of the show, featuring new dancers, on Saturday mornings as soon as next month. A MyPHL17 spokesman confirms the station is working with Nise's company, Omni 2000, to put together a new show, but had no timeline. "There's a good buzz around the show," says Travis Brower , of the television station.

You might say that Phil Ferrara Jr., 15, was made for TV. Consider this. Last year, he was just another freshman at George Washington High School, a shy, overweight boy with mousy brown hair and an undistinguished wardrobe. Today, thanks to the miracle of cable television, Phil Ferrara - 40 pounds slimmer with frosted blond bangs and a collection of snazzy outfits that he made himself - is a budding fashion designer, a dynamite dancer and a national star. After only six months of regular appearances on the locally produced teen dance show Dancin' on Air and its nationally telecast cable spinoff, Dance Party USA, fame has come to Phil Ferrara.

Fuse will premiere a docu-series Wednesday called Saturday Morning Fever , a behind-the-scenes look at the second coming of the once-legendary dance show Dancin' on Air . Why does Fuse care about a show that airs on Philadelphia's public-access channel? "It's a train wreck to the extreme," said Casey Reed, Q102 DJ and host of Dancin' on Air . Reed doesn't mince words when she talks about her side hosting gig. Fuse hopes you'll want to watch this train wreck, too. It premieres at 11 p.m. "It's sheer entertainment without having to be created," Reed said.

Before this week, I couldn't have told you the difference between Dancin' on Air and Dancing With the Stars . For all my boomer mind knew, Dancin' on Air could have easily been a millennial remix of Lionel Richie's "Dancing on the Ceiling," or Martha and the Vandellas' "Dancing in the Street. " But then my Facebook feed blew up with "likes" from friends, directing me to the Dancin' on Air marathon page and RSVPs to the Dancin' on Air "watch party. " PHL17 is doing a four-hour 30th anniversary rebroadcast of the hallowed '80s dance program from 8 to 10 p.m. Saturday and again from 11 p.m. to 1 a.m. The watch party starts at 8 p.m. Saturday at the Piazza at Schmidts in Northern Liberties.

HAPPY BIRTHDAY this Saturday to . . . Princess! Not the most international celeb on this list, but to 30- and 40-something locals, Heather Day Slawek of "Dancin' on Air" and "Dance Party U.S.A. " is a super-duper star. In the '80s, she dominated the dance floor, obsessed over Prince and wore a single lavender teardrop beneath one eye. Today, she's a suburban mom and owner of Pole Awakenings Fitness centers. Her next year will be one of discovery, friendships and success - much like her first 40. Today, retired newsguy Marc Howard anchors 75, and sports-radio big mouth Anthony Gargano wings 44. Valentine babies include former weather dude Dave Roberts, a sunny 74; magician Teller, a quiet 64; and both "Fresh Air's" Terry Gross, 61, and her colleague, "Radio Times' " Marty Moss-Coane, 63. Wednesday, Flyer Jaromir Jagr hits 40. - Lauren McCutcheon
