A Bensalem woman has been identified as the victim of a homicide at a motel in a Delaware beach commuity. She's Danielle Mehlman, 26, according to Delaware State Police. Her body was found about 10:45 a.m. Monday at the Atlantic Oceanside Motel on Coastal Highway in Dewey Beach, Sussex County. Earlier today, police appealed for the public's help in locating a suspect, Pawan Kumar, 26, who was living at the Stratford Apartments in the 3000 block of Naamans Road in Wilmington.

A Bensalem woman has been identified as the victim of a homicide in a Delaware motel, and a suspect's body has been found in a motel in North Jersey, Delaware State Police said Tuesday. The body of Danielle Mehlman, 26, was found about 10:45 a.m. Monday at the Atlantic Oceanside Motel on Coastal Highway in Dewey Beach, police said. The cause of Mehlman's death was under investigation, police said. The body of Pawan Kumar, 26, of Wilmington, was found about 1:30 p.m. Tuesday in the Belleville Motor Lodge in Belleville, Essex County.

Hit-run driver ID'd * Merion Avenue near 49th Street Safiyah Bankhead, 32, of Overbrook, was arrested yesterday in connection with a hit-and-run accident that left a 9-year-old girl hospitalized on Feb. 14, police said. The girl was riding her bike in Parkside when Bankhead, of Kimberly Drive near Brockton Road, hit her and sped away, cops said. The girl was taken to Children's Hospital of Philadelphia and was listed in stable condition. Bankhead surrendered to police Monday, but was not arrested or identified until police spoke with her and her attorney after the holiday.

WILMINGTON - A suspect in a bank robbery this week has been arrested in Salem County, N.J., Delaware State Police said Friday. Troopers have obtained a warrant charging Ryan W. Anderson, 22, of Pennsville, N.J., with robbery. Anderson was arrested Wednesday in Pennsville after officers there recognized him from surveillance photos taken at M&T Bank in Wilmington, police said. The bank had been robbed Monday by a man who gave a teller note demanding money. - AP

CAMDEN, Del. - A Dover teenager has been charged in connection with a stabbing death in Camden over the weekend, Delaware State Police said Sunday. Aaron Johnson, 17, surrendered Saturday afternoon and was being held at the Stevenson House in Milford without bail, state police said. Johnson has been charged with first-degree murder and also faces assault and deadly weapons charges, state police said. The stabbing occurred about 1:30 Saturday morning, authorities said. The victim, Tevin R. Perry of Felton, was pronounced dead at Kent General Hospital.

A Delaware County man was killed Friday when his box truck crashed into the rear of a tractor-trailer stopped in traffic on I-495 in Wilmington, Delaware state police said. Edwin Trill Jr., 32, of Ridley Park, died at Christiana Hospital. Troopers say Trill's truck crashed into the rear of a tractor-trailer operated by Alvin Flaud, 59, of Honey Brook. Flaud's vehicle was pushed into a tractor-trailer driven by Bryan Colon, 68, of Washington, N.C. Flaud was treated at Christiana Hospital.

Delaware State Police say two Red Cross volunteers were attacked while trying to help victims of a weekend house fire in Milton, Del. The workers were making lodging arrangements Saturday in the 17000 block of Pettyjohn Road when they were approached by a man and woman identified as Hosea Brown Jr., 71, and Clara Bailey, 51, both homeless in the Milton area, police said. Brown began swinging a board at the volunteers, grabbed one by the arm, and yelled threatening comments, according to authorities.

NEWARK, Del. - A Newark teenager died and another teen was hospitalized in serious condition after two dirt bikes collided Monday afternoon, according to Delaware State Police. Cody J. Kegelman, 14, was pronounced dead at Christiana Hospital, where he was taken after the 1:15 p.m. crash on a dirt access road about a quarter mile east of Delaware Route 72, state police said in a news release. Authorities say Kegelman was traveling west while Nicholas Schrader, 16, of Newark, was traveling east on the same access road.

NEW CASTLE, Del. - Police in Delaware say a bull rider was killed when he was thrown from the animal during a rodeo and then stepped on. Delaware State Police said in a news release Monday that Leonel Trejo, 40, an experienced rider, was participating in the rodeo Sunday. When he was thrown from the bull after about a minute of riding it, the animal stepped on his chest. Trejo was pronounced dead at a local hospital. - AP

Man, woman die in crash Both a driver and his passenger were killed early Saturday in a motorcycle crash on Roosevelt Boulevard at Ridge Avenue. The driver, identified by police as Willie Singletary, 54, of Yeadon, Delaware County, lost control of the motorcycle about 1 a.m. The cycle struck a guard rail, ejecting the passenger. Accident Investigation Division officers said the passenger, Teresa Gibson, 59, of 28th Street near Morris, was pronounced dead at the scene.
