Dennis Burlingame, a 1987 graduate of Kingsway High and former Inquirer all-South Jersey selection, made an auspicious debut for the Atlanta Braves' single-A team, the Durham Bulls. Burlingame, who was 9-11 pitching last season for Sumper of the less competitive South Atlantic single-A league, pitched a perfect game in his first outing for the Bulls. His effort came during the Bulls' opening day 4-0 win over Frederick. The game lasted seven innings because the teams were playing a doubleheader.
