'So . . . how did you two meet?" It's what one family member says to another when the latter brings home a prospective mate. Especially somebody different. Unexpected. As in "S/he's not one of us, is s/he? How did this happen?" How indeed is what's explored in Tribes , by English playwright Nina Raine, now being presented by Philadelphia Theatre Company at the Suzanne Roberts Theatre in a coproduction with Pittsburgh's City Theatre Company. DEAR ABBY: I have a son with two good friends. They are at my house often and are really good boys. I enjoy them, and I'm glad my son is friendly with them. The problem is their mothers. Both these women are receptive to playdate invites, but when I see them in social situations, they say very little to me and almost act as if they don't know me. Even when they pick up their kids, talking to them is awkward, and they give the impression they're always in a hurry. I think if your kids spend five hours at my house and I have fed them, I deserve a little face time at the very least.

Benedict, who turns 85 on April 16, didn't carry the cross during the procession. Instead, he listened to mediations on suffering that he asked an elderly Italian couple to compose for the traditional ceremony.
