TOMS RIVER, N.J. - It was only a small rectangle made of bronze. And compared with all she lost in the last several years - her husband to a car accident, their Mantoloking beach house to Hurricane Sandy - the loss of the bronze could have seemed insignificant. But to Lori Juliano-Slack it was everything, a touchstone to her husband's memory that had been placed on the wooden railing along their beach pathway by the town. So it was heartbreaking when the commemorative plague honoring Steven F. Slack'stragic 2007 passing washed away in the storm.

The trainer of Preakness and Haskell Invitational winner Lookin At Lucky says the horse came down with a fever this week and won't run in the Travers on Aug. 28 at Saratoga. Hall of Fame trainer Bob Baffert says on his Facebook page that the 3-year-old colt is responding well since developing a "little temperature" Monday, the day after winning the Haskell at New Jersey's Monmouth Park. Lookin At Lucky remains at the Jersey Shore track while he recuperates. The track's attending veterinarian said yesterday the colt is "bright and alert" and doing well.

DISTRICT ATTORNEY Seth Williams headed online yesterday to say there is no get-out-of-jail-free card for his Facebook friends and Twitter followers. "Regularly scheduled Facebook 'friendship' disclaimer. Your use and viewing of this page does not constitute 'friendship' to bar criminal prosecution in the City and County of Philadelphia by the Office of the District Attorney," Williams posted on his Facebook page. He also linked to it on his Twitter feed. It's a tricky legal landscape out there for Facebookers.

LOS ANGELES - Jonas Bevacqua, who co-founded the popular street clothing brand LRG in 1999 and presided over its rapid rise as a major fashion force among young people, was found dead yesterday. He was 34. Orange County sheriff's officials said that Bevacqua's body was found in his Laguna Beach home. An autopsy was slated for today. Calls to LRG's headquarters in Irvine rang unanswered. According to the company's Facebook page, Bevacqua and his business partner, Robert Wright, founded Lifted Research Group, known to patrons as LRG, with start-up capital raised in part from friends of Bevacqua's adoptive father.

Ten weapons and nearly 1,700 bullets were seized from an Ocean County, N.J., home after a man allegedly made threatening statements on his Facebook page and then barricaded himself inside the residence. The standoff, which began around 8:30 p.m. Thursday, lasted for several hours as authorities tried to negotiate with the 53-year-old man, whose name was not released. It ended when an Ocean County Regional SWAT team broke down the door of the Barnegat home and captured the man without incident.

A prosecutor is hinting that investigators have clues into the killing of a pregnant woman whose body was found in a nature preserve near Allentown. Jennifer L. Snyder, 27, of Lower Macungie Township, was found Friday morning in a wooded ravine in the Trexler Nature Preserve. Authorities said she had suffered multiple gunshot wounds. Snyder, a veterinary clinic technician, had posted news of her pregnancy on her Facebook page. Her family said she was excited about becoming a mother and had scheduled her first ultrasound for Thursday, the day after she was last seen alive, the Allentown Morning Call reported.

The body of a recent Temple University graduate who was reported missing Friday has been found in the Delaware River in New Jersey, police said. Investigators are awaiting an autopsy to determine the cause of death of Roswell Friend, 22. A New Jersey State Police marine unit found Friend's body about 9:45 a.m. in the river at Riverton, Burlington County, Philadelphia police said. Friend, originally from Cockeysville, Md., was last seen Thursday night jogging through the Temple campus in North Philadelphia.

A 21-year-old Delaware County man was nabbed by Denver police last night after fleeing some 1,700 miles from where cops say he murdered his boss at a landscaping company while he was having an affair with the boss' wife. Stephen Shappell, 21, spent two days on the lam before he was captured by police about 6:10 p.m. A Denver Police public information officer had few details last night but did say Shappell had been captured on foot. When he's returned here, Shappell will face homicide and related charges for the death of landscape company owner Kevin Mengel Jr., of West Goshen, Chester County, police said.

A Newtown Square man, depressed over a breakup with his girlfriend, allegedly posted a sex tape of the couple on the Internet because he was "trying to be hateful," he allegedly told police. Christopher Thomas Scott, 20, of the 200 block of Aronimink Drive, was arrested Monday and charged with selling, designing, and producing sexual materials; harassment; and drug-related charges. He was arraigned and released on $25,000 unsecured bail and could not be reached for comment. His attorney, Mark Much, did not return calls seeking comment.

A 31-year-old pedestrian killed Tuesday night when he was hit on Route 130 in Pennsauken was a local musician who performed under the name Hipstar. Branden K. Johnson died at the scene when at least one vehicle, and possibly three, struck him around 11:10 p.m., Pennsauken Police Sgt. Chris Sulzbach said. Johnson was hit in the left northbound lane at the Drexel Avenue intersection. It was unclear why Johnson, a township resident, was in the road. Sulzbach said authorities had yet to determine whether Johnson was walking or standing.
