Shaun White's cab was navigating the narrow streets of South Philadelphia on Friday night when the driver pointed out that Geno's Steaks was just ahead. "Where is it? I can't see it," White joked about the brightly lit steak shop. This was the snowboarder's first trip to Philadelphia - or at least he was pretty sure it was. After his flight from California, White couldn't decide between Pat's or Geno's, so he chose both. White, who has emerged as the face of extreme sports over the last decade, has won a pair of Olympic gold medals and is one of the world's elite in both snowboarding and skateboarding.

CITY COUNCIL members better watch their backs! Controversial staffer Latrice Bryant says she has a mean right hook and she's not afraid to use it. The chief legislative aide to Councilman W. Wilson Goode Jr. posted on her Facebook page a torrid account of getting into a bathroom brawl at a Germantown nightclub. She said in a post this weekend that after some time on the dance floor, a woman followed Bryant into a bathroom stall and accused her of being with her husband. "All of a sudden this unknown woman from the dance floor burst into my stall and grabbed my face, scratched me and her hand slid to my braids!"

The first call came Friday evening, tinged with racist hate. "Watch your back, (racist slur). I'mma blow your (profanity) brains out," one of Lynette Gaymon's aunts said Saturday. Gaymon, a geometry teacher at Charles Carroll High School in Port Richmond, has been accused of humiliating a student who wore a pink Romney/Ryan T-shirt on "dress-down" day Sept. 28. After the story drew media attention last week, the teacher's aunts said, she stayed out of school and took refuge with friends.

ON SUNDAY, SAINTS quarterback Drew Brees will likely break Johnny Unitas' record for consecutive games with a touchdown pass. And that's fine with Joe Unitas, the son of the late NFL Hall of Fame quarterback. Brees tied the 47-game record with a 20-yard strike to Marques Colston in the first quarter of a loss to the Packers last weekend. He can break the mark on Sunday night against the visiting Chargers, the team the 12-year veteran began his career with. In a letter to Brees that the Saints posted on their Facebook page, Joe Unitas wrote: "I wanted to take a minute to congratulate you on tying my father's record . . . I'm a big fan of yours, and wish you the best Sunday night against San Diego . . . When I look back on my father's life I remember a man who was much bigger than the game of football.

Lori E. Stilley told friends last year that she had Stage IV bladder cancer and was preparing to die. Supporters raised more than $12,000 for expenses and prepared her meals. Her "Team Lori Rocks" page on Facebook attracted more than 300 friends. Family members and others helped cover the cost for her to get married. It was the least they could do. But no one accompanied the Delran resident to see a doctor, an acquaintance now recalls. Or viewed lab reports or medical bills around her home.

NEW YORK - Before his now-infamous tangle with a Bronx Zoo tiger, David Villalobos adorned his Facebook page with New Age odes to Mother Earth and affirmations like, "Be love and fearless. " Police said Saturday that Villalobos had told detectives that it was without fear that he leaped from an elevated train into the animal's den. His reason, they said, was that "he wanted to be one with the tiger. " Villalobos also recounted how, after he landed on all fours, the 400-pound beast attacked him and dragged around by his foot, said New York Police Department spokesman Paul Browne.

PITTSBURGH - Klein Michael Thaxton hadn't been much of a Facebook devotee. He posted no status updates in two years on the social network. He surrendered after five hours. Neither he nor the hostage, business owner Charles Breitsman, was injured.

APHILADELPHIA JURY for the first time has convicted a defendant for criminal Internet postings, the District Attorney's Office said Friday. The unlucky poster is Mark Lee-Purvis, 36, who was found guilty Wednesday of retaliation against a witness or victim, intimidation of a witness or victim and making terroristic threats. Lee-Purvis faces up to 19 years in prison when he is sentenced on Oct. 22 by Common Pleas Judge Barbara McDermott, who revoked his $1 million bail and sent him to jail after the conviction.
