With 1 second showing on the clock in the fourth quarter, Le-Bron James took an inbounds pass, took a step back behind the three-point line, turned and fired a shot that beat the buzzer and gave the Cleveland Cavaliers a 96-95 victory over the visiting Orlando Magic and a 1-1 tie in their Eastern Conference final series. James finished with 35 points. From 23 feet - matching his jersey number - James made a shot unlike any before in Cleveland history. The Boston Celtics have offered forward Rasheed Wallace a contract as part of a major push to land the forward, the Boston Globe reported yesterday. The Simon Gratz High graduate was offered the deal Thursday during a three-hour meeting in Detroit. Celtics stars Kevin Garnett, Ray Allen, and Paul Pierce joined general manager Danny Ainge and managing partner Wyc Grousbeck at the meeting. Wallace's agent, Bill Strickland, told the Globe in a text message that it was a "very good meeting; some contractual terms discussed, nothing agreed to. " He also said Wallace, 35, will meet with other teams next week.

The Orlando Magic's offense has looked little like that of a 59-win team. The difference between their regular-season efficiency and their postseason futility had been the play of forwards Rashard Lewis and Hedo Turkoglu - until last night. Orlando's forwards, whom the Sixers have keyed on defensively, were averaging a combined 26.0 points per game in the series before Game 4. In 82 regular-season games, they combined to average 34.5 points. Last night, though, Turkoglu scored 17 points, including the winning three-pointer, on 8-of-11 shooting.

Hedo Turkoglu emptied his locker, shook hands with teammates and walked out of the Orlando Magic's practice facility yesterday. The Magic are optimistic it wasn't the last time. Chief operating officer Alex Martins said the team is prepared to go over the luxury tax for the first time in its history, perhaps giving the Magic the space they need to re-sign the soon-to-be free agent Turkoglu and remain a contender to return to the NBA Finals. "The luxury tax won't be a hindrance," Martins said.

Veteran free agent forward Hedo Turkoglu's change of heart had more to do with lifestyle than money, a source told ESPN.com. Over the weekend, Turkoglu went from being on the verge of signing with the Portland Trail Blazers to accepting a 5-year, $53 million deal with the Toronto Raptors. ESPN reported that Turkoglu will total about $3 million more in Toronto, but a bigger reason he changed his mind, according to the source, is that Toronto is a more international and cosmopolitan city with a large Turkish population.

Shaquille O'Neal took over after Kobe Bryant went out early with a shoulder injury, scoring 32 points last night in the Los Angeles Lakers' 99-91 victory over Seattle. Bryant hurt his right shoulder in a collision with Seattle's Reggie Evans in the first minute of the game and left the arena to have an MRI exam. There was no immediate report on the severity of the injury, although team spokesman John Black said Bryant had jammed it. The Lakers' star underwent surgery on the same shoulder this past offseason, and also missed six games earlier this year after he sprained it on Jan. 12 in a collision with Cleveland's Kedrick Brown.

Sidelined since suffering a shoulder injury before the all-star break, former St. Joseph's star Jameer Nelson arrived at the Wachovia Center last night resplendent in a pinstriped suit, expressing confidence that his Orlando Magic teammates would overcome the absence of two key players. They did with a 114-89 victory that ended the 76ers' season. "With the guys we have in the locker room, when guys are out, other guys step up," Nelson said. "That's why you have a team. They were excited about getting the opportunity to play.

ORLANDO MAGIC forward Hedo Turkoglu was suspended 20 games by the NBA on Wednesday after testing positive for steroids. The NBA said Turkoglu tested positive for methenolone, an anabolic steroid. He began serving the suspension Wednesday night when the Magic lost to the visiting Atlanta Hawks, 108-76. Josh Smith led the Hawks with 30 points, 10 rebounds and five assists. Jameer Nelson and Andrew Nicholson scored 10 points each for the Magic. Turkoglu said he took medication from a trainer in Turkey this past summer to help him recover from a shoulder injury and mistakenly neglected to check it against the league's list of banned substances.

Joe Johnson provided his usual offensive spark. His biggest play, though, was getting a hand on a missed shot. Johnson scored 23 points and came up with a huge offensive rebound, leading the Atlanta Hawks to an 84-81 victory in Game 6 last night, knocking the visiting Orlando Magic out of the playoffs. The Hawks, who won the series 4-2, advanced to the second round for the third straight year, this time against top-seeded Chicago. The Magic, who routed Atlanta a year ago in the most lopsided four-game sweep in NBA history, head into an uncertain offseason after their earliest playoff ouster since 2007.

Dwight Howard had 21 points and 14 rebounds, and Hedo Turkoglu added 20 points and 13 assists to help the Magic hold off the Nets, 95-85. Jameer Nelson added 15 points in his first start since Nov. 16, helping the Magic win for the fifth time in six games ahead of a Christmas Day match against the Boston Celtics.
