Brandon Sutter's second goal of the game 52 seconds into overtime lifted the visiting Pittsburgh Penguins to a wild 7-6 victory over the Montreal Canadiens on Saturday night. Sutter took a pass from Simon Despres on a rush, stepped around Max Pacioretty, and beat goalie Carey Price with a high shot to help Pittsburgh end a two-game skid and avoid being swept on a three-game road trip.   'Canes top Southeast Jussi Jokinen scored twice and added an assist as the host Carolina Hurricanes beat the Florida Panthers, 6-2, to move into sole possession of first place in the Southeast Division.

Corey Crawford made 28 saves and Andrew Shaw scored the only goal as the host Chicago Blackhawks stretched their NHL-record, season-opening point streak to 18 games with a 1-0 victory over the Columbus Blue Jackets on Sunday night. Crawford earned his seventh NHL shutout and second this season in his first start since Feb. 12. He outdueled Columbus' Steve Mason, who stopped 26 shots. Shaw provided all the offense in the second period for the Blackhawks (15-0-3), who haven't lost in regulation time this season and have earned 33 of a 36 possible points.

Megan Tiernan scored two goals and assisted on five as Washington Township dominated an Olympic Conference battle of top lacrosse teams and handed host Lenape its first loss, 13-4, on Wednesday. Christina Brennan and Nicole Tiernan added two goals each for the Minutemaids (5-2), ranked No. 4 in South Jersey by The Inquirer. Third-ranked Lenape (6-1) got two goals from Lizzie Duffey. Also in the Olympic, Cherokee, ranked No. 9, got five goals from Christine DiLullo and edged host Cherry Hill East, 13-12.

Jamiel Hines stepped up in the clutch as Philadelphia Academy Charter won, 54-52, in overtime over host Lincoln in a Public League boys' basketball game Friday afternoon. With PAC trailing by two, Hines cut through the lane and sank a layup with less than 10 seconds remaining to even the score and send the game to overtime. The extra frame saw Hines and Muhammad Laws lead PAC with three points apiece as they outscored Lincoln, 8-0. Laws scored six of his team- high 15 points in the third quarter and PAC improved to 3-1. Elsewhere in the Public League, Dale Ellis Jr. hit six three-pointers en route to a game-high 28 points to lead Lamberton to a 68-56 win over visiting Roxborough.

The camera fixes on a sign that says "Welcome to Paulsboro, home of Fort Billings. Site of first federal land purchase July 6, 1776. " The camera's eye then catches the view from the back window of a car entering Paulsboro, going over the black bridge across Mantua Creek and traveling down Broad Street. Next, you see an overhead view of the Paulsboro waterfront and finally the "Pride in Paulsboro" flag at the nearby Mobil refinery. That is the opening segment of "Eye on Paulsboro," a new program on Storer Cable's local television station, Channel 5, which transmits in Paulsboro and about 12 other communities in Gloucester County.

Senior forward Ken McNichols scored 18 points and hit the game-winning free throw Thursday night, helping Clearview rally past host Delsea, 55-54, in overtime in Tri-County Conference Royal Division boys' basketball. With 15 seconds left in the fourth quarter, junior forward Adam Herman made a putback to tie the game at 48. Herman finished with 10 points and 10 rebounds. The game was then tied at 54 with 20 seconds left in overtime before McNichols made 1 of 2 free throws to put Clearview ahead.

Stephanie Josepayt worked a bases-loaded walk in the bottom of the 10th inning, bringing home Erica Tompkins with the winning run as host Triton tripped up Paul VI, 8-7, on Thursday in an Olympic Conference interdivision softball thriller. Brielle Reighn pitched all 10 innings to pick up the win, and she keyed the Mustangs' attack with three hits, two walks, two RBIs, and one run. Cape-Atlantic. Brittany Scott pitched a perfect game, striking out 11 over five innings for her second no-hitter in as many starts, sending host Buena past Cape May Tech, 24-0.

Brielle Morichetti pitched her fourth no-hitter of the season and Ariel Schuck batted 3 for 3, including a pair of triples, with four RBIs and four runs scored as host Burlington City buried Palmyra, 15-0, on Monday in Burlington County League softball. Cape-Atlantic. Kelly Lupton (9 strikeouts) carried a shutout into the seventh inning, and Dana Cafone singled twice, stole a base and drove in a run to help Absegami edge host Millville, 3-1. Olympic. Lindsey Manera belted the go-ahead home run, allowing host Lenape to hold off Paul VI, 7-6.
