THE MINDY PROJECT Tomorrow, Hulu. Mindy Kaling's ready to stop sweating the mornings after. "It's going to be nice to wake up on Wednesday mornings and not think about the ratings," Kaling said in an interview last month in Beverly Hills, Calif. As the creator and star of "The Mindy Project," which debuts its Season 4 tomorrow on Hulu, Kaling was intimately familiar with the show's Nielsen numbers at Fox, which canceled it in May. Now she no longer has to be envious of Upper Darby's Tina Fey, whose "Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt" was freed from the overnight Nielsens in its move from NBC to Netflix.

Two new half-hour comedies this week follow the adventures of aspiring entertainers - Mr. Robinson on NBC is a warm, traditional sitcom about a funk musician who doubles as a high school teacher, and Hulu's Difficult People , about a pair of would-be comics, offers a sarcastic take on the Seinfeld experience. Funky with teacher Actor, stand-up comic, and singer Craig Robinson, 43, has amassed a nice following with roles in Pineapple Express , Hot Tub Machine , and This Is the End , not to mention his droll turn as warehouse foreman-turned-sports agent Darryl Philbin on The Office . The Chicago native, who has a master's degree in education, digs into his personal history to play a Chicago high school music teacher in the likable, if sometimes flat, Mr. Robinson . IF YOU'RE looking to make some money, becoming a surgeon was a good way to go. But with health-care costs out of control and malpractice insurance through the roof, being a surgeon may still be better than being a fast-food worker, but the real money is in playing a surgeon on a hit TV show. Now that Patrick Dempsey is splitting with both "Grey's Anatomy" and his wife, Jillian Fink , the couple are putting their Frank Gehry -designed Malibu home on the market.

It isn't likely to rewrite the rules of the comic book genre, much less give Fox's Gotham much competition critically. But Powers , an uneven and at times puerile adaptation of the graphic novel by Brian Michael Bendis and Michael Avon Oeming, will usher in a new revolution when it hits the small screen Tuesday. The first original TV show developed by gaming and streaming video content provider PlayStation Network, Powers stars South African thesp Sharlto Copley ( District 9 )

LAS VEGAS - I never fully bought the common notion that the vast annual Consumer Electronics Show here was like "the Super Bowl for geeks. " Then I caught Collin Anderson and Johan Abadie touting their latest product by wearing toilet seats around their necks, and I finally came around. Anderson and Abadie wore the seats as proudly as any Green Bay fan wears a Packers Cheesehead or a Philly fan paints his face Eagles green, at a media event promoting their latest product, ScreenDr Antimicrobial cleaning solution.

Analyst Tony Wible at Janney Capital Markets in Bedminster, N.J., tracks how U.S. advertisers are targeting you to buy their stuff - and how fast that's changing with smartphones and PC video and social-media and tracking data. Here's what he says in a report to clients: Online TV provider Hulu is flashing 80 ads per month at its typical watcher as of October, up from 58 last year and way ahead of YouTube (31) or AOL (26). "This makes Hulu less of a direct competitor to Netflix " and more like cable TV, he adds.

* ALMOST HUMAN. 8 p.m. Sunday and Monday, Fox 29. * ALPHA HOUSE. Today, Amazon.com/AIV. IN THE FUTURE envisioned by J.J. Abrams and J.H. Wyman, the "Fringe" producers behind Fox's new drama "Almost Human," police work gets so rough that cops are riding with android partners. In the future envisioned by Amazon, you wouldn't need cable - or a television - to see the kind of show we'd expect to be on HBO or Showtime. Amazon's future is here. Today, the online retailing giant's instant-video service follows Netflix and Hulu into the original programming game with the launch of three episodes of "Alpha House," a very funny political comedy from "Doonesbury" creator Garry Trudeau and journalist Jonathan Alter that could hold its own with HBO's "Veep.

Hulu L.L.C.'s owners, Comcast Corp.'s NBCUniversal, Walt Disney Co., and Rupert Murdoch's 21st Century Fox Inc., on Friday called off their sale of the video-streaming service and will instead invest $750 million in the company. The decision ends an auction that attracted bids from suitors including DirecTV, Time Warner Cable Inc., and Peter Chernin with AT&T Inc., people with knowledge of the matter said. The growing popularity of streaming companies like Netflix and Hulu may have persuaded the owners, all media companies with TV and film libraries, to keep the fast-growing service.
