After the genuine smoke and (mostly) simulated fire had abated at Citizens Bank Park on Friday night to signal the end of country-pop megastar Jason Aldean's show, a key metric for rating the concert was evident. Satisfied fans exited the ballpark, some in cowboy hats, some in ball caps, many in pointy-toed boots (especially women, a good number clad in high-thigh-baring "Daisy Dukes" cutoff denim shorts). Most everyone sported contented looks on their faces. Leave the qualitative and quantifiable assessments to critics and other bean counters - these folks were happy.

AN UNUSUAL musical collision played a role in the Carson Wentz era of Eagles football rolling off to a successful start on Sunday at Lincoln Financial Field - country music superstar Jason Aldean and hip-hop mogul Kanye West. Eagles third-year receiver Jordan Matthews is a pensive dude. He figured that if he was going to be a part of the new order after the Birds drafted Wentz as the quarterback of the future, he should figure out what makes the kid from North Dakota tick. Matthews said he does not watch a lot of television but is definitely into music.

Country's yodeling homewrecker, LeAnn Rimes, christened Philadelphia's newest live-performance venue Sunday in the glittering slots palace of the still-expanding SugarHouse Casino's Event Center. Along with opening its 600-person concert hall, SugarHouse introduced its cosponsorship of country gigs with 92.5XTU and LiveNation at Camden's BB&T Pavilion featuring Dierks Bentley (May 14), Keith Urban (Aug. 26), Jason Aldean (Sept. 17), and more. The sold-out, four-act concert headlined by Luke Bryan on Friday at Lincoln Financial Field was likely the most definitive showcase of "Bro Country" that the City of Brotherly Love has yet seen. It was even more representative of the subgenre than the "Bro-C" fest powered by major stars Jason Aldean and Florida Georgia Line over at neighboring Citizens Bank Park two weeks prior. Friday's spectacle was altogether bigger, longer, and, yes, more Bro-loaded, in terms of numbers, execution, styles (less country, more pop/rock)

CAMDEN The city's former police department sent more officers than requested to patrol more than 20 waterfront concerts in 2012, with the city picking up the extra cost, internal billing and scheduling documents show. Some of the information was released following a judge's ruling last month that it be made public; other related records were obtained by The Inquirer. More than a year after denying Councilman Brian Coleman's request for the information, Camden turned the first of the documents over last week - an overtime report from the July 28, 2012, concert by the country singer Jason Aldean.

No jail time for 50 Cent He'll always be half a buck short of a buck, but rapper 50 Cent has avoided jail time in a domestic violence case dating to June 23, when he allegedly kicked Daphne Joy Narvaez (who may be the mother of a kid of his) and busted up some of her stuff. In a plea deal with L.A. prosecutors Monday, he accepted a count of misdemeanor vandalism in return for dropping a domestic violence count. He gets three years of probation and 30 days of community service, plus counseling, and must pay $7,100 in restitution to her. Plus her restraining order against him stays in effect.

WHEN TATTLE heard that "Teen Mom" Farrah Abraham made a sex tape with porn star James Deen and then lied about it (pretending that it was a secret sex tape that no one was supposed to see), we thought, what kind of message does lying send to your young daughter? We already know what kind of message the tape sends.
