BROWNS quarterback Johnny Manziel is trying to grow up. Yesterday, the player known as Johnny Football said he will no longer do his signature money sign as part of an overall effort to stop being a distraction. "The money sign will not be back. I will not be making it out there," Manziel told reporters yesterday. "Whatever I can do to help quiet the noise that has surrounded this team and surrounded myself, I don't want that anymore. My focus is on football. " Manziel entered rehab in January, where was treated for 10 weeks.

ON SATURDAY, Browns quarterback Johnny Manziel got more attention for throwing one water bottle than he did from any of his 35 passes in the NFL last season. Manziel was in his home state of Texas attending the Byron Nelson Classic when he was involved in an incident in which he allegedly threw a water bottle at a heckling fan. According to several reports, the former Texas A&M star, a first-round draft choice in 2014, was harassed by an 18-year-old male near the hotel pool of the TPC Four Seasons Resort in Irving, where the tournament was held.

I F YOU ASK Charles Barkley's opinion - on anything - he gives it. Yesterday, in an appearance on Cleveland's 92.3 The Fan, the former Sixer was asked his thoughts on Johnny Manziel, the ex-Texas A & M quarterback who was drafted by the Browns in May. "The only problem I have with Johnny Manziel is him and his friends are always taking pictures," said Barkley. "You should never take selfies of yourself doing anything that can be considered stupid . . . Most of his pictures are selfies and that tells me he's just too immature to handle the fame thing right now. " This is the same Barkley whose spit aimed at a heckling fan landed instead on a little girl.

ALABAMA quarterback AJ McCarron is steering clear of the Johnny Manziel questions. McCarron fielded plenty of them yesterday at Southeastern Conference media day, where his Texas A & M counterpart faced the spotlight a day earlier. McCarron and Manziel were roommates at the Manning Passing Academy, where Manziel left early and blamed missing activities on oversleeping. Asked if he bought that explanation, McCarron said: "I can't answer on Johnny Manziel's part. My name's AJ. " "Everything that has to do with him, he's his own man," McCarron said.

TODAY IS National Hot Dog Day. And, while the rest of the nation celebrates by scarfing down a tasty wiener or two, we decided to roast a different type of hot dog: the athlete who craves attention. Some we cheer, some we boo. It's not a definitive list. In fact, we welcome any additions you may have. But no list would be complete without: Terrell Owens: Situps in driveway say it all. Chad Johnson/Chad Ochocinco: A jerk by any other name. Johnny Manziel: A legend in his own mind.

Bo Wallace threw three touchdown passes and Mississippi beat Pittsburgh, 38-17, in the BBVA Compass Bowl in Birmingham, Ala., on Saturday to complete an impressive turnaround under first-year coach Hugh Freeze. Ole Miss (7-6) took a five-win improvement over its 2-10 finish in 2011. Pitt (6-7) struggled on offense as leading rusher Ray Graham was held out with a hamstring injury he suffered in practice. The Panthers fell behind in the opening minutes after quarterback Tino Sunseri threw his first interception since Sept.

Heisman Trophy winner Johnny Manziel ran for two touchdowns, threw for two more and had a Cotton Bowl-record 516 total yards as 10th-ranked Texas A&M wrapped up its first SEC season with a 41-13 win over No. 12 Oklahoma on Friday night in Arlington, Texas. The Aggies (11-2) never trailed after Manziel tiptoed the sideline for a 23-yard TD run on their opening drive of the game. Oklahoma (10-3), which like the Aggies entered the game with a five-game winning streak, went three-and-out on its first three drives after halftime.

JOHNNY MANZIEL got a cool tweet from a king-sized fan prior to his first NFL start yesterday. Cavaliers star LeBron James reached out to the Browns quarterback, writing: "Best of luck to my lil brother @jmanziel2 on making his 1st start today. Let's Go!!" But then the game started, and Manziel, filling in for a struggling Brian Hoyer, played more like Johnny Appleseed than Johnny Football in a 30-0 loss to the visiting Cincinnati Bengals. Manziel was 10-for-18 for 80 yards, no touchdowns and two interceptions.

BY NOW, you've heard that Browns rookie quarterback Johnny Manziel partied in Las Vegas over the weekend. And did it up right. There are photos of him and Patriots tight end Rob Gronkowski surrounded by bikini-clad hotties. Photos of Manziel and UFC president Dana White. There's even a pic of Manziel hanging out with Paulie D of "Jersey Shore" fame. Apparently, when you are Johnny Football, what happens in Vegas doesn't stay in Vegas. Not surprisingly, the 21-year-old's behavior caused a bit of a stir.

BY NOW, you might have picked up on the fact that those of us who cover the Eagles think this Sam Bradford-Carson Wentz-Chase Daniel quarterback mashup has the potential to become a bit of a circus. John DeFilippo and Frank Reich say they are unfazed. They are the Eagles' quarterbacks coach and offensive coordinator, respectively. They've logged time in QB rooms on both coasts and in between. They have seen the good, the bad and the dysfunctional. DeFilippo, especially, knows from circuses: He was the offensive coordinator last season in Cleveland, where the game plan sometimes depended upon whether Johnny Manziel showed up partying somewhere on Instagram before Tuesday evening, when planning for that week's practice was complete.

Johnny Manziel has fallen from the 22nd overall pick in the 2014 NFL draft to a colossal bust without a team. The former Cleveland Browns quarterback is officially a free agent after clearing waivers Saturday. If a team had claimed Manziel, it would have assumed responsibility for the $2.17 million guaranteed on the final two years of his contract. Instead, the Browns remain on the hook for the amount after cutting Manziel on Friday. However, they're expected to try to recoup the guaranteed money on the deal if the NFL suspends him. His ex-girlfriend Colleen Crowley accused him of beating her and threatening to kill them both Jan. 30 in Dallas.

GOOGLE "Johnny Manziel & police" and you'll get over 5 million results. What a tool! Manziel's bio says he's 22. But he acts 20 years younger. On Monday, Avon, Ohio, police released dashboard video of the latest childish episode involving the Browns backup quarterback. The video is from an incident that happened on Oct. 12 in which police were called to investigate a roadside argument involving Manziel and his girlfriend, Colleen Crowley. On the video, Manziel can be heard telling police that he pulled over after Crowley, a student at TCU, accused him of driving badly before throwing his wallet out the window of their moving vehicle.

Depending on which side of the Great Johnny Football Divide you come down on, Johnny Manziel's debut as Cleveland's quarterback was either disappointing or delightful. There's little doubt how the Cincinnati Bengals felt during their 30-0 drubbing of Manziel's Browns last Sunday. Several Bengals taunted the QB, some with mocking imitations of his money-rubbing gesture. But no matter how bad his performance (10 for 18 for 80 yards, no touchdowns, two interceptions, three sacks, and a passer rating of 27.3)
