DALLAS - The manslaughter case against Cowboys defensive tackle Josh Brent will likely require several more days of investigation by suburban Dallas police, authorities said Thursday. Brent is free on bond after the accident last Saturday morning that killed practice squad player Jerry Brown. Police from Irving, who say Brent was driving drunk, met with prosecutors from the Dallas County district attorney's office to discuss the case. "They talked about the case and where we are in the investigation," police spokesman John Argumaniz said in an e-mail.

DALLAS - Jason Garrett gave the Dallas Cowboys a day off after his players somehow pulled off a win in Cincinnati while reeling from a one-car accident that killed one teammate and landed another in jail. Many players showed up at team headquarters anyway and there was Josh Brent, the hulking defensive tackle who missed the trip after police say he was driving drunk and caused the wreck that killed practice squad linebacker Jerry Brown, his close friend and roommate. Brent was back with his teammates again Tuesday for a private memorial honoring Brown.

DALLAS - Cowboys nose tackle Josh Brent had a blood-alcohol content of 0.189, more than twice the legal limit, after the car crash that killed teammate and friend Jerry Brown, according to documents released by police Thursday. Brent, 24, was tested after the crash in the early hours of Dec.8. The Texas legal limit for drivers is 0.08 percent. One report said Brent was intoxicated, driving over the speed limit and swerving out of one lane when he struck a curb in Irving, a suburb of Dallas, causing the car to flip over.

After spending the last three months fighting leukemia, the inspirational Colts coach arrived early at the team complex. He met briefly with his players to give them a succinct message about this week's game plan, then stepped onto the practice field for the first time since Sept. 26. While Pagano wanted to take a business-as-usual approach into his first regular workday, it certainly wasn't easy amid all the outside stuff.

" The Stars said in a statement yesterday that they had "addressed the issue directly" with Seguin. The tweet showed up on his account Saturday and was quickly removed. Seguin posted an apology on Twitter and said he was temporarily shutting down his account because of "repeated attempts by 'hackers' to try to damage my reputation. " Seguin, 21, was traded to Dallas by Boston last week, just days after Bruins general manager Peter Chiarelli criticized the No. 2 pick in the 2010 draft as needing to be a "better pro. " Dallas made the seven-player deal because it needs centers, and Seguin figures to be on the Stars' first line.

According to police, Brent was driving at a minimum of 110 mph on Dec. 8 and could have gone as fast as 134 mph down Highway 114. Police in the Dallas suburb of Irving confirmed in late December that Brent, who is out of jail on $100,000 bond, was speeding when his vehicle struck a curb and flipped.

The Cleveland Browns are giving a jersey to the family of a fan who asked for six players to serve as pallbearers at his funeral. In an obituary in the Columbus Dispatch, Scott E. Entsminger , 55, a lifelong Browns fan, requested "six Cleveland Browns pallbearers so the Browns can let him down one last time.

The Dallas Cowboys are looking for ways to improve the way the team handles drunken driving after two arrests and the car-crash death of a practice squad player, player-development consultant Calvin Hill said Monday. Nose tackle Josh Brent faces an intoxication manslaughter charge in a Dec. 8 crash that killed his friend and practice squad member Jerry Brown . And last week, fellow Cowboys lineman Jay Ratliff was arrested after sideswiping a semitrailer truck. Blood-alcohol tests released by police say both Brent and Ratliff were well above the legal limit.

Chicago Sky star Elena Delle Donne became the first rookie to lead the WNBA's all-star voting when the starters were announced Thursday night. The former Delaware standout received 35,646 votes, nearly 2,000 more than Los Angeles Sparks forward Candace Parker . Delle Donne leads the first-place Sky in scoring, averaging 19 points. "To come in as a rookie and know I have that many fans is so humbling and awesome," she said. The Sky defeated the New York Liberty, 75-55, Thursday afternoon.
