J AND BUDDY A letter Nov. 13 by Rocco Colantonio criticizes the attention being given to the retirement of 76ers forward Julius Erving, and combines this attention with the publicity given Philadelphia Eagles coach Buddy Ryan. I understand the Daily News is not responsible for the content of the letters on its editorial page, but the News should be more selective in the types of letters it capsulizes. If the intention was to demonstrate the ignorance and lack of appreciation your typical reader shows towards such a positive role model as Mr. Erving, you were successful.
