PRODUCER Jerry Bruckheimer , director Gore Verbinski and star Johnny Depp have made a lot of money together with "Pirates of the Caribbean" movies. Billions. Even the sequels, which were ripped to shreds by critics, brought in piles of gold doubloons. But they're still human, and they still have a thin skin. With the box-office failure of "The Lone Ranger" (Disney estimates it could lose $190 million, which means it will probably turn a small profit) the creative trio and co-star Armie Hammer set out to find someone to blame, and since they couldn't blame themselves they instead chose movie critics.

YESTERDAY WAS a too-typical day for Lindsay Lohan . Chaos. The actress-turned-train wreck started out by allegedly checking into Newport Beach's Morningside Recovery, a Southern California rehab facility, although it is unclear if she ever got out of her car. Hours later, Millicent Tidwell , acting deputy director of licensing and certification for the California Department of Alcohol and Drug Programs, said Morningside did not...

CONGRATULATIONS to South Philly's Christina Wilson , who won Fox's "Hell's Kitchen" Monday night and a job as head chef of Gordon Ramsay Steak at the Paris Las Vegas Hotel. Wilson, 32, watched the finale at the Fox Eco Party in Culver City, Calif. We couldn't reach her Monday, but the Phillipsburg, N.J., native told us in May that she had cried herself to sleep on "more than one night" while away shooting the series. But Wilson, who attended West Chester and Temple on basketball scholarships, credited her competitive sports background with helping her deal with the pressure of competition and cameras in her face.

THE GUINNESS BOOK OF WORLD RECORDS has named Samuel L. Jackson the highest-grossing actor of all time. Since Jackson debuted in Spike Lee 's "Jungle Fever" in 1991, his 100 movies have made more than $7.4 billion. The Hollywood Reporter says "Jurassic Park" ($914 million), "Pulp Fiction" ($212 million) and the "Star Wars" prequels ($2.4 billion) were big contributors to the record. Tattle's box office guru David Bleiler says the record is a little misleading because Jackson wasn't the star of many of the films in question.

Lindsay Lohan 's family has distinguished itself again this week with an award-winning series of wacky, disturbing, and ludicrous circus sideshow antics. It culminated Thursday morning with an attempt by tabloid tribe patriarch Michael Lohan to fly, fly away like a birdie. Oh yes. It's that wonderful, er, I mean bad . MiLo, 51, spent Tuesday night in a Tampa, Fla., jail after being arrested for allegedly assaulting his gf, tabloid reporter Kate Major . Less than 12 hours after he was released, cops were at his door again after Major complained he had made threatening phone calls, says local Fox news site myFOXtampabay.com.

Say you're a celeb with serious legal and image issues. Say the world thought you were too wild and reckless (allegedly), too fond of sex and drugs, and generally had become a sleazy tabloid joke. Let's not be coy - say you're Lindsay Lohan . How would you get a PR makeover? Undress for Playboy, of course! TMZ says LiLo, 25, who may be headed back to jail next month, pocketed $1 mil to ditch her clothes (and principles?) for Hugh Hefner 's fine glossy. (Reportedly she was insulted at the mag's first offer of $750,000.)

Damon Feldman is a Philadelphia-area "celebrity boxing" promoter with a stable of D-list luminaries such as "Octomom" Nadya Suleman, and an admitted fixer of fights who is banned from staging matches in Pennsylvania for two years. Michael Lohan is the Celebrity Dad From Hell whose latest gig is a stint on VH1's Celebrity Rehab with Drew Pinsky while his former superstar daughter Lindsay ping-pongs between jail and substance-abuse clinics. Who better than those two to advise you on how to become a Hollywood star?
