Rick Nash had two goals and a career-best four points and Pascal Leclaire stopped 28 shots to lead the Columbus Blue Jackets over the road-weary Anaheim Ducks, 4-0. Sergei Fedorov and Ron Hainsey each added a power-play goal and an assist for the Blue Jackets, opening their first full season under coach Ken Hitchcock. Once the New Jersey Devils found a way to beat Anaheim goaltender Jean-Sebastien Giguere, winning came easy. The wait wasn't much fun, though. The pre-Christmas shopping sale has begun in the NHL. Yesterday, New York Islanders center Jason Wiemer turned up on waivers. Although he is a capable two-way player, Wiemer is costing the club $1.6 million and has never scored more than 12 goals in a season.
