* THE NEW GIRL. 9 p.m. tomorrow, Fox 29. * POV: 56 UP. 10 tonight, WHYY12. LAMORNE Morris is tired already of the Nick (Jake Johnson) and Jess (Zooey Deschanel) romance on Fox's "New Girl. " "I think they should break up. My character [Winston] thinks so, too," said Morris, on a recent swing through Philadelphia. Because it's uncomfortable living in an apartment where two of the roommates are sleeping with each other? "It is," Morris said. "I lived in that scenario before.

Jake Johnson and Damon Wayans Jr. are a package deal. The castmates on the Fox sitcom New Girl agreed to star in the new buddy comedy, Let's Be Cops , but only if they could work together. "A movie like this that relies so much on friendship and chemistry, we both felt that we wanted to do it with someone we really know," says Johnson. "They wanted us to improvise a bunch, and when you get in a situation like that and you don't have that shorthand, you can find yourself in trouble fast.

Christine DeFilippo can look back and laugh about it all now. She remembers her first experience with a Philadelphia cheesesteak. She couldn't enjoy it because she was taking each bite between sobs. It didn't come easy, but the Radnor High senior has adjusted to her move from Lexington, Ky., to Rosemont. DeFilippo, a 5-foot-6 guard for the Red Raiders, moved to this area with her family after her father, Gene, was named the new athletic director at Villanova in July. Not only has DeFilippo adjusted, but she has helped Radnor move toward respectability in the Central League.

Relationships are tricky, but some rules of dating go unsaid. Don't wait to tell your new girlfriend that you're a mob informer who spent 12 years in prison for murder and racketeering. And never, ever threaten to smash her head with a hammer. Roger Vella Jr. failed on both counts. First he lost the girl, then his freedom. Vella, whose cooperation against the Philadelphia branch of La Cosa Nostra was once hailed as "remarkable" by a prosecutor, was sent back to prison last week after stalking the ex-girlfriend and failing to get permission to travel.

No one believes me when I say that when it comes to television, I can take it or leave it. So just to prove a point, when I'm on vacation, as I was recently, I don't watch at all. And after the first couple of days, when the migraines and nervous tics subside, I do just fine, thank you very much. This is by way of explaining how Crossing Lines , the intriguing NBC summer series (Sunday, 10 p.m.) that debuted a couple of weeks ago, slipped by me. It stars William Fichtner ( The Lone Ranger )

Simpatico Theatre Project presents Obie Award-winning Milk Like Sugar by Kirsten Greenidge, an engrossing drama that is both a cautionary tale and a societal indictment, with a superb cast. Greenidge can write what sounded to me to be pitch-perfect dialogue, and Alan Radway directs the ensemble with respect and a clever use of the Adrienne Theatre's Skybox space. Three teenage African American girls, living in a ghettoized community in any American city, are sworn friends: Annie (Nastassja Baset)

The image of the writer funneling the muse's whisperings onto paper has tickled the imagination for decades. Books about the creation of books and biopics about great poets are a cultural mainstay. So it's no surprise a TV show would be devised about the creative goings-on at some of today's most lauded series. Hosted by Jim Rash - the Academy Award-winning cowriter of The Descendants - Sundance Channel's The Writers' Room , which premieres Monday, takes us to the heart of the creative process behind six current shows, including HBO's Game of Thrones , Showtime's Dexter , and FX's American Horror Story . The season premiere features a roundtable discussion with Breaking Bad creator Vince Gilligan, series star Bryan Cranston, and more than a half a dozen of the show's writers.

Two new series this week feature hapless, if lovable, romantically challenged young men as heroes: the off-the-wall sitcom Man Seeking Woman , which premieres 10:30 p.m. Wednesday on FXX, and PBS's Grantchester , a classic British mystery about a lovelorn Anglican priest and amateur detective. It premieres 10 p.m. Sunday. Isn't she a troll? That's what Man Seeking Woman 's sub-hero (he's not quite an antihero) Josh Greenberg (Jay Baruchel) asks his sister when he first claps eyes on his blind date.

SINGER-ACTRESS Zooey Deschanel will combine her two occupations this fall on Fox, having written and recorded the theme song to the show she will star in, "New Girl. " Deschanel, known for music-centric films such as "(500) Days of Summer" and "Almost Famous" and who is one half of She & Him, plays a newly single woman who moves in with three guys eager to meet her friends. An overly emotional sort, Deschanel's character sings whenever she is overwhelmed. "It's just a part of how she expresses herself," Deschanel told the Television Critics' Association Friday in Los Angeles during Fox's panel on the new show.

Zooey: I was never really "adorkable" Truly adorable star Zooey Deschanel is tired of being called "adorkable" by fans, the media, critics, cats, dogs, pigeons, everybody. Folks, it's just a brand! Yes, Zooey tells the Huffington Post, the moniker is not some cute, whimsical description. It was created as part of a marketing ploy by Fox to sell her show New Girl four seasons ago. "I don't always identify, perhaps, with the way that I'm portrayed in certain public contexts," she says.
