Revis Island is relocating to Tampa Bay. The New York Jets have traded star cornerback Darrelle Revis to the Buccaneers for this year's No. 13 overall draft pick and another selection next year. The Bucs announced the deal Sunday, saying Revis agreed to a new six-year contract worth $96 million, but with no guaranteed money. It makes the 27-year-old one of the highest-paid defensive players in the NFL. The Jets also received a conditional fourth-round pick in next year's draft that will become a third-rounder if Revis is on the Bucs' roster on the third day of the 2014 league year.

IT'S DRAFT TIME again, and Birds loyalists are eager to see what the Chip Kelly-Howie Roseman team will do. Will they aim to fill a need or take the proverbial "best player available"? One of the most hotly debated questions is whether the Eagles will dip their feet into the piranha-filled quarterback pool. Drafting a quarterback with a high first-round pick can bring the greatest reward, but it more often than not ends in tragic failure. Take the 1999 draft, for example. Andy Reid used the No. 2 pick in the draft to take Donovan McNabb and got a franchise quarterback for a decade (yes, you haters; any QB who takes his team to four conference title games and one Super Bowl is most definitely a franchise quarterback)

CLEVELAND - Browns owner Jimmy Haslam pledged to continue running his family's business - and NFL team - amid a federal investigation into fraud within his company. Haslam said Friday he had no plans to step aside as president of Pilot Flying J despite federal authorities' alleging he was aware of a widespread scheme to defraud customers of the truck-stop chain. According to court documents, sales team members said Haslam was aware that employees withheld diesel price rebates and discounts from Pilot customers to boost the company's profits and sales commissions.

A COUPLE of months after he made the college-to-pro head-coaching leap from the University of Florida to the Washington Redskins in 2002, Steve Spurrier was asked how much tougher he thought it would be to win in the NFL than it was in the Southeastern Conference. Spurrier, who never has been on a first-name basis with humility, responded by saying that conquering the NFC East would be a piece of cake compared with the challenge of the SEC. "Gosh," the ol' ball coach said, "we only have to beat three teams.

DALLAS - Pat Summerall was the calm alongside John Madden's storm. Over 4 decades, Summerall described some of the biggest games in America in his deep, resonant voice. Simple, spare, he delivered the details on 16 Super Bowls, the Masters and the U.S. Open tennis tournament with a simple, understated style that was the perfect complement for the "booms!" and "bangs!" of Madden, his football partner for the last half of the NFL player-turned-broadcaster's career. Summerall died Tuesday at age 82 of cardiac arrest, said University of Texas Southwestern Medical Center spokesman Jeff Carlton, speaking on behalf of Summerall's wife, Cheri.
