Free-agent cornerback Nnamdi Asomugha reached agreement on a one-year contract with the San Francisco 49ers on Tuesday that could pay him as much as $3 million this year. The contract has no guaranteed money. The ex-Eagle is due to earn a base package of $1.35 million with salary and bonuses, and could make an additional $1.65 million in incentives. "It's not about the money for him. He wants to play for a winner," his agent said. The former all-pro was released by the Eagles on March 12 after two disappointing seasons.

No doubt about it - the secondary is the primary focus of the wrath of Eagles fans. When fans were asked, "Who is the Eagles weakest link?" from among 25 choices, more than 70 percent of the 2,335 votes went to cornerbacks Nnamdi Asomugha and Dominique Rodgers-Cromartie, and safeties Kurt Coleman and Nate Allen. Asomugha himself got 40.2 percent - 939 votes. Now it's time, as promised in Tuesday's story, for the final showdown to determine Mr. Disappointment for the 2012 season.

BETHLEHEM, Pa. - Nnamdi Asomugha was carted off the practice field Monday after a collision with safety Nate Allen left the Eagles cornerback with a lacerated lip and a sore neck. Asomugha had no concussion symptoms Monday night, according to a team spokesman. The injury occurred during seven-on-seven drills. Quarterback Michael Vick threw a deep pass to DeSean Jackson while the defensive backs played a cover-2 scheme. Asomugha and Allen came from opposite directions, and Asomugha's helmet hit Allen's chest.

Up-Down Drill   LeSean McCoy Well, at least one Eagle came to play. McCoy has been giving maximum effort all season as far as one can tell, but he hasn't gotten support from his offensive line. But the Eagles running back had room to run against the Saints and delivered. His teammates and coaches let him down.   Dominique Rodgers-Cromartie and Nnamdi Asomugha The Eagles cornerbacks were above average in the first six games. But for some reason, when Todd Bowles took over as defensive coordinator, they forgot how to tackle.

THE PLAY: Giants receiver Ramses Barden is called for offensive pass interference after grabbing Eagles cornerback Nnamdi Asomugha - who had inside position - on the right shoulder, then the face mask, followed by the left shoulder, the top of the helmet and the throat. THE SETUP: The Eagles had just taken a 19-17 lead on Alex Henery's 26-yard field goal. On the ensuing kickoff, David Wilson, as he had done all day, found gaping lanes in the Eagles' special-teams coverage and ran the ball back to the Giants' 35. After a 9-yard completion to Victor Cruz on third down, the Eagles' Dominique Rodgers-Cromartie was whistled for pass interference, giving the Giants first-and-10 at the Eagles' 35. Three Eli Manning incompletions and an Asomugha interference call put the Giants on the Eagles' 27. A 1-yard run by Ahmad Bradshaw gave Giants kicker Lawrence Tynes a legitimate shot at a 43-yard field goal.

When the Panthers run The Panthers averaged an NFL-best 5.4 yards a carry in 2011 but they have plummeted to only 4.0 yards this season. Jonathan Stewart and DeAngelo Williams, who combined for 1,597 rushing yards last year, have been unspectacular this season. Stewart is averaging just 3.6 yards; Williams is at 3.4. The loss of Pro Bowl center Ryan Kalil, who suffered a season-ending foot injury in Week 5, has hurt. His replacement, Geoff Hangartner, has not done well opening holes.

BETHLEHEM, Pa. - When President Obama told Nnamdi Asomugha to "tell [Michael] Vick to slide" at an event Monday, the message got back to the Eagles quarterback. At first, Vick was "stunned" - in a good way - that Obama thought of him. After further consideration, Vick thought: "Man, he's got a point. " Finally, Vick came to a resolution: He'll listen to the president. "The first run of the year, I'm sliding, and you'll know it's for him," Vick told reporters after Thursday's practice.

Here is Paul Domowitch's report card from the Eagles' loss against the Falcons. Click here to enter your grades. We will publish the results in Tuesday's Daily News. RUSHING OFFENSE LeSean McCoy managed just 45 yards on 16 carries against the league's 28th-ranked run defense. And 21 of those 45 yards came in the fourth quarter when the Falcons were in their nickel and dime packages. He notched only his second rushing TD of the season early in the second quarter on a 2-yard run. McCoy has averaged just 2.6 yards per carry in the last three games.

This is a post by Les Bowen on the Daily News' Eagletarian blog. CONSIDERING THE central role Andy Reid played in the Eagles' slide to a rebuilding team coming off a 4-12 season, it's only fair that Andy should offer them a helping hand, all the way from Kansas City. Reid's Chiefs on Wednesday released right tackle Eric Winston, a big free-agent signing a year ago from Houston who didn't get off to a great start in his new home. (Geez, that story line seems familiar, can't imagine where I might have heard it before.)
