PARIS HILTON won't joke about her peeps. The hotel heiress canceled an appearance at next week's Billboard Music Awards because she didn't like the jokes written for her, according to a spokesman. "It is my understanding that some satirical references ridiculed some of her peers," her spokesman, Elliot Mintz, said in a statement. "Paris did not want to say anything that could appear hurtful or embarrassing about people she knows. " Paris has been hanging out with Britney Spears, but it's hard to imagine how anything she would say about Britney could be more embarrassing than the panty-free photos of the Brit all over the Internet.

SO, WHAT'S BEHIND Jennifer Lopez's latest marriage? Is she in a mad dash to start a family? Is she still on the rebound from her breakup with Ben Affleck? Or does girlfriend just have some deep issues? Several relationship experts I spoke with yesterday say they suspect it's the latter. "I think she has really low self-esteem," said Joan Allen, a psychologist and co-author of "Celebrating Single and Getting Love Right. " "She's rushing into marriage. She's also breaking up families.

POP STAR AND ACTRESS Selena Gomez joined "American Idol" host Ryan Seacrest at Children's Hospital of Philadelphia yesterday morning for the ribbon-cutting ceremony for The Voice, the multimedia center for patients that Seacrest's charitable foundation provided, reports Daily News columnist Dan Gross. The Daily News reported Thursday that Seacrest would be at CHOP yesterday, and Seacrest tweeted yesterday morning that Gomez would be a surprise guest. Once word spread about Gomez, rumors swirled that her boyfriend, Justin Bieber , would also attend the ceremony but, alas, it was not meant to be. Seacrest's girlfriend Julianne Hough , an actress and singer and former "Dancing with the Stars" pro, accompanied him to the event but stayed low-key.

IT LOOKS LIKE it's back to hanging in bars and trolling the Internet for Jennifer Aniston. The Star reports that she has been dumped by her latest beau, British model Paul Sculfor. This being Jennifer Aniston and the Star, this latest romantic misstep is, of course, a referendum on Jen's inability to ever find love in a world of heartbreak, and not merely the end of a summer fling with a fame-hungry wannabe. Oh, well. Sources say the split occurred because Sculfor is a recovering cocaine addict and he feared getting sucked into the Hollywood celebrity drug scene.

LOOKS LIKE J.Lo has lived up to the 'tude of her dance hit "Love Don't Cost a Thing. " The singer/actress/star got hitched to sweet-as-a-button dancer Cris Judd in a private ceremony on Saturday - just seven months after she dumped gazillionaire rap impresario Sean "Puffy" Combs. The nondenominational nups took place at a private residence in Calabasas, Calif., just northwest of Los Angeles, and were attended by about 170 guests, Lopez spokesman Alan Nierob said yesterday. "It was beautiful.

WHITNEY HOUSTON has finally 'fessed up about her long-rumored drug use. During an interview with ABC's Diane Sawyer, airing at 9 tonight on "Primetime," Sawyer asks Whitney, "Is it alcohol? Is it marijuana? Is it cocaine? Is it pills?" Houston responds, "It has been at times. " "All?" Sawyer asks. "At times," Houston says. "Uh-hm. " The Grammy Award winner, whose shockingly thin frame at last year's Michael Jackson tribute raised many an eyebrow, said, "I don't like to think of myself [as]

WE KNOW it's the holiday season and all. We know that those who have it like to spend it. But how will we ever convince the children of the value of a dollar when the San Francisco Chronicle's "Daily Dish" is reporting that a 2002 portrait of a pregnant Kate Moss, painted by Lucien Freud, is expected to fetch $6.65 million when Christie's auctions it off in February. That's $6.65 MILLION! Come on. Speaking of cash burning a hole in one's pocket, a Jon Bon Jovi fan paid $11,500 in a New York radio promotion for the privilege of having lunch with the rocker.

Here are the facts. Jennifer Lopez and Ben Affleck have broken up. Or maybe they haven't. The wedding is off for good. Or maybe it isn't. Cameras caught Lopez slipping into a string bikini in Miami on Saturday, the day before what was supposed to be the serial bride's third wedding day, while Affleck gambled in Vegas. And the publicists for both claim to know nothing about the trouble in paradise. Since news broke over the weekend that the relentless publicity machine known as Bennifer may be permanently out of order, theories about what may have gone wrong have been spinning through the media like a category-five gossip hurricane.

Can't wait to purchase your very own copy of the (alleged) Jennifer Lopez sex vid in which Jenny From the Block (allegedly) frolics sans clothing? Sorry, you'll have to wait. RadarOnline.com says J-Lo's first hub, waiter-turned-something-or-other Ojani Noa , and his agent, Ed Meyer , have received a court order not to release or market the home vid. Ojani, you remember, was Mr. J-Lo for 11 months in '97. According to Meyer, he has old footage of J-Lo, who is now 41, displaying "deviant behavior by consensually exposing her genital area in public" while "riding a scooter in public in Cuba.
