"I didn't think you could do that at a funeral," McMillian-Wade said. "I never even heard of that on TV. " Their March 9 nuptials took place during the funeral of Wade's uncle, Gregory "Chops" Scott, who allegedly had been gunned down by his own cousin and another man Feb. 27 outside Scott's West Philly home. Before his death, Scott had promised to walk McMillian-Wade, 29, down the aisle, since her own father died years ago. Wade, 39, said that in a family big on promises, he and his bride wanted to honor the promise Scott had made, so they decided to combine their wedding with his funeral.

A mixed-use affordable-housing development is moving forward in Norristown despite opposition from some residents. The plan calls for 96 one- and two-bedroom apartments, as well as 5,000 square feet of retail space, at DeKalb and Airy Streets. Sixty units would be reserved for low- and moderate-income residents. The site is now a parking lot owned by Montgomery County. The county deemed it underused, and in February agreed to transfer ownership through a profit-sharing redevelopment deal.

At East Ridge Pizzeria & Restaurant, an employee was mopping the floor late Friday with the door ajar when screams from the Willingboro shopping center's parking lot caught his attention. Even as he called 911, he heard that someone was run over. "There was a white car parked sideways and there was a person underneath," he said he saw after police arrived. The person who was struck was 17-year-old Willingboro High School senior De'Jour Benson, police said Tuesday. Benson, a member of the school football team, was taken to Cooper University Hospital in Camden, where he died.

It was a cold-blooded killing two nights before Christmas: a 45-year-old man shot dead in front of his 5-year-old son in the parking lot of a South Philadelphia drugstore. On Wednesday, Philadelphia police announced the capture of Jahmir Harris, 23, of the Point Breeze section, in the Dec. 23 murder of Louis Porter. Harris ambushed Porter outside the Walgreens store in the 2300 block of Oregon Avenue. A security camera captured the killing. Porter had just gotten out of his vehicle when the gunman pulled up in a dark gray car, hopped out, and fired 17 shots from a handgun.

Motorists should expect even more aggravation this summer from a $215 million project to rebuild the roadway, damaged in Hurricane Sandy, from Point Pleasant Beach to the entrance of Island Beach State Park, 121/2 miles to the south. R&B BAD BOY Chris Brown got into a tussle with R&B wunderkind Frank Ocean over a West Hollywood, Calif., parking spot Sunday night, and now Ocean wants to press charges, officials said Monday. The Los Angeles Police Department was called to the scene at Westlake Recording Studios, where Brown and Ocean were separately holding court, but Brown bailed before he could be questioned by the cops. Accounts of who struck the first blow differ. TMZ.com sides against Ocean, reporting that he and his crew blocked Brown from departing the studio.

A man's body was found Sunday morning in the parking lot of a Cherry Hill motel. Detectives found no signs of foul play and said the man may have suffered a drug overdose, said Cherry Hill Lt. Sean Redmond. An autopsy is pending. The body was found in a parking lot on the east side of Steak 38, a restaurant attached to the Hillside Inn on Route 38. Police said he was staying with a resident of the motel. Redmond said the man's name is being withheld until his family can be notified.

UPDATE: The three bouncers on trial for beating a patron in the parking lot of a Southwest Philadelphia strip club three years ago today were found not guilty of all charges Tuesday evening. The patron's friend died during the attack, and a fourth defendant, the club manager, is scheduled to be tried for third-degree murder in that case Wednesday. Common Pleas Judge Jeffrey Minehart found the three bouncers not guilty of aggravated assault, conspiracy and recklessly endangering another person following a non-jury trial that began Tuesday morning.

A bizarre scene unfolded Wednesday night when police say cops driving by the Macy's at the Roosevelt Mall and spotted a car and the body of a man engulfed in flames on the edge of the parking lot. The officers attempted to smother the flames on the man's body using a body bag while awaiting the arrival of firefighters, Chief Inspector Scott Small said at the scene. Police said firefighters arrived a few minutes later, just after 7 p.m., and doused the flames, but the man was already dead.
