Hollywood titan Gene Hackman , 81, was recovering nicely Friday after being hit by a car while walking his bike. The Oscar-winner, who has been featured in 100 films including The Conversation and Unforgiven , was on a bicycle outing in the Florida Keys when the accident occurred, reports TMZ. "Gene was airlifted to the hospital for routine tests," his rep tells E!News. "Everything is fine and Gene is on his way home now with a few bumps and bruises. "   Paula Deen has diabetes?

He looks as studly, dewy-fresh and baby-faced as the day he modeled his sparking-white briefs in 1983's Risky Business. It's hard to believe that Tom Cruise, who turns 50 in July, has never had a nip, tuck, lift or lipo in his life. "I haven't, and I never would," Tom tells Playboy on the set of his next sci-fi blockbuster, Oblivion. Of wifey Katie Holmes, he says: "Everything she does, she does with this beautiful creativity," says Tom. "She's funny and charming, and when she walks into the room, I just feel better.

* The nonprofit Physicians Committee for Responsible Medicine has issued its list of the Five Worst Cookbooks of 2012, and probably the only surprise is that Paula Deen isn't on it. Chosen for their unhealthy recipes (1,386 calories in a sandwich! more cholesterol than 10 Big Macs!), the "winners" are: Rachael Ray's My Year in Meals , The Unofficial Downton Abbey Cookbook , Fifty Shades of Chicken , Emeril's Kicked-Up Sandwiches and Southern Living: The Official SEC Tailgating Cookbook . "Downton Abbey" cooking's unhealthy?

In the new Atlantic City, no longer is it sufficient to have merely a yen to roll some dice, eat some good grub and watch a name singer warble a dozen tunes. If Caesars vice president of marketing Erin Hansen has her way, visitors to Atlantic City will have a "lifestyle," too. "Tony Bennett has played here a long time and he will continue to come, which is wonderful," said Hansen. "But we want to attract people who never came to Atlantic City, people who never thought to come to Caesars before.

HOW CONVENIENT for celebrity chef Paula Deen : Now that she's publicly acknowledged that she has diabetes (she found out three years ago), she is teaming with drug-maker Novo Nordisk to promote a Novo diabetes drug and program. Talk about turning lemons into lemonade. The move, however, strikes Tattle as similar to a hooker hawking Valtrax. Deen says she kept quiet about her condition until she had advice to offer the public. "I wanted to bring something to the table when I came forward," said the woman who's always bringing something to the table, on yesterday's "Today" show.

The notion of TV dinner - that is, cooking on television - began 44 years ago in Boston when a not-young, not-thin NBA-forward-of-a-woman with a warbling voice took to the airwaves revealing the pleasures of Gallic cuisine. The camera loved her immediately. Since Julia Child's The French Chef, cooking shows have proliferated but not necessarily progressed. Certainly there are more cameras, especially the all-important saucepan cam, and mediocre music (a ubiquitous Kenny G-like ragu)

Before she even put down her bag or said hello, Libbie Summers was compelled to comment on the bright, minimal vibe at the La Colombe near City Hall. It's just her way: For the cookbook author, culinary producer, blogger, and food stylist, aesthetics are tied into everything she does. "On the train I was writing notes about radishes and white lace and spring onions," she says. "I can't help it, my head goes crazy!" The Savannah, Ga., resident was in town for a few days this month, promoting the recent release of The Whole Hog Cookbook , her first solo title.

Drunk. Naked. Hooker. Police. Is there a more delicious string of words in GossipLand? Thank Charlie Sheen for inspiring them. The Two and a Half Men star was hospitalized Tuesday for a psychiatric evaluation hours after police say they found him naked and "highly intoxicated" in a room at New York's Plaza Hotel, which he apparently had trashed with actions most violent. An unnamed source tells RadarOnline that Sheen, 45, enjoyed cocaine and the company of a call girl prior to redecorating his room.

NO DEAL HAS been reached, but we hear "Real World: Los Angeles" cast mate Glen Naessens and his brother Mike , who owns Eulogy (136 Chestnut), are trying to buy the Khyber (56 S. 2nd), which is mere feet away. Rumors of the Old City rock club being for sale have swirled for about a year, but nothing has come to fruition. Khyber co-owner Stephen Simons declined to comment yesterday. Simons owns the building and co-owns the bar with Dave Frank . The pair also operate the Royal Tavern, Cantina Los Caballitos and Cantina Dos Segundos.
