You could say that Kyle Kendrick kept the Phillies in the game on a cloudy, drizzly afternoon in which he did not have stellar command. Then the beleaguered bullpen put a match to it. That would be only half the truth. Full disclosure: The Phillies' offense was never in this game against Bronson Arroyo and the Cincinnati Reds, and so this momentum-deprived season continued Saturday at Citizens Bank Park with a 10-0 loss. It was the sixth time the Phillies have been blanked, matching the team's total number of scoreless games for the entire 2012 season, which, if you recall, wasn't exactly a celebrated one. Only the woeful Miami Marlins have been shut out more often.

Fulton had to win bouts on 3 consecutive days to advance to the finals. He won all by decision.

AN MRI on injured setup man Mike Adams revealed a mild strain in the middle of his back, but the Phillies remain hopeful that they will not have to place the veteran righthander on the disabled list. Adams has not pitched since May 10, but the Phillies have been carrying an extra reliever the whole time, so they have not felt shorthanded. General manager Ruben Amaro Jr. said that the team does not feel as if it needs to make a decision on sending Adams to the disabled list until Tuesday, when they need to call up a fifth starter for a game against the Marlins.

The Phillies optioned lefthander Raul Valdes to Lehigh Valley and called up righthander B.J. Rosenberg from the IronPigs. Valdes may have sealed his fate when he allowed a three-run home run to Jason Kipnis in Wednesday's 10-4 loss to the Cleveland Indians. The 32-year-old Valdes had a 7.65 ERA in 10 appearances this season for the Phillies. Rosenberg was 1-3 with a 4.40 ERA in seven starts for Lehigh Valley this season. Last season he split time with Reading, Lehigh Valley and the Phillies.

Roy Halladay's trip down rehab road has officially started after Wednesday's surgery in Los Angeles went as well as could be expected, according to Phillies team physician Michael Ciccotti. Neal ElAttrache, the team physician for the Los Angeles Dodgers, repaired Halladay's shoulder and rotator cuff in an arthroscopic procedure. ElAttrache also removed the bursa that cushions the shoulder. A bone spur that was found in Halladay's shoulder did not need to be removed. "The major attachment sites of the rotator cuff - the cable, we call it - in the front and the back, they were still attached," Ciccotti said during a news conference Thursday at Citizens Bank Park.

The scoreboard has been kind to the Phillies. While they slip, slide and fall in their modest pursuit of reaching .500, the Atlanta Braves and Washington Nationals have failed to pull away. It's hard to believe that any team could have a worse on-base percentage than the .304 the Phillies have posted through 41 games. But five teams do, and the Nationals, at .292, are one of them. The Braves, meanwhile, started 13-2 and have gone 9-16 since. The misfortune of others will not matter if the Phillies cannot fix their myriad problems.

Cliff Lee pitched and hit well enough to earn a win. He had to settle for being picked up by his teammates. Eighth-inning RBIs by Domonic Brown and Carlos Ruiz broke the tie and led the Phillies to a 5-3 win over the Cincinnati Reds on Friday at Citizens Bank Park. "A comeback win like this means a lot and shows the character of this team," Brown said. With the score tied at 3-3, Michael Young drew a one-out walk in the Phillies eighth. Ryan Howard, of all players, then reached base on a check-swinging bunt that reliever Sean Marshall couldn't handle.

Even though righthander B.J. Rosenberg was called up three times last year by the Phillies, he was surprised that it happened on Friday. The Phillies recalled Rosenberg from triple-A Lehigh Valley and optioned lefthander Raul Valdes to the IronPigs. Valdes had a 7.65 ERA in 10 relief appearances this season. "I was kind of shocked," Rosenberg said before Friday's game with the Cincinnati Reds at Citizens Bank Park. "I really wasn't expecting anything, but obviously am very excited to get the opportunity.
