For the first time since joining Major League Soccer in 2010, the Union will open a season at home. MLS announced home openers for all teams on Tuesday and the Union will open on Saturday, March 2, against Sporting Kansas City at PPL Park. MLS teams will still play 34 games, but the season continues to get longer. For instance in the Union's first season in 2010, their opener was March 25 in Seattle. In 2011, the Union opened the season in Houston on March 19 and last season they had their first game in Portland on March 12. The Union's first road game is the following week, March 9, in Colorado.

A look at the faces of the franchises In my Small opinion . . . If Major League Soccer were at the level of the other major sports in Philadelphia, the Union reacquiring forward Sebastien Le Toux on Thursday would be the equivalent of Cliff Lee returning to the Phillies, Allen Iverson returning to the Sixers or Jeremiah Trotter re-signing with the Eagles. That's how popular the fan-friendly Frenchman was with the crew that shuffled down to the edge of the Delaware River and PPL Park.

WILL FREDDY ADU return to the Union next season? That was the big question after Adu failed to dress for the Union's season-ending 3-0 loss to the New York Red Bull at PPL Park on Saturday. It was the second straight game that Adu didn't dress, sparking rumors that the 23-year-old would not be back. However, Union manager John Hackworth said no decision on Adu's future had been made. "We had a good talk and agreed we just need to have a little bit of separation from the year and all of the emotions and things like that," Hackworth said after the loss.
