My favorite way to prepare clams is to steam them. In this recipe, I added broccoli rabe, which absorbs some of the clam liquor as it cooks. Asian Steamed Clams or Mussels With Broccoli Rabe Makes 4 servings 2 tablespoons vegetable oil 1 tablespoon grated fresh ginger 1/2 cup finely chopped scallions (white and green parts) 3 cloves garlic, minced 1 teaspoon Chinese chili sauce (or hot sauce) 1/2 cup dry white wine 1/2 cup low-sodium chicken broth 3 dozen littleneck clams or 2 pounds mussels, scrubbed well 1/2 teaspoon sesame oil 3 cups blanched and coarsely chopped broccoli rabe 8 thick slices country-style bread, toasted 1. In a large saucepan, heat the oil over medium high.

A truck carrying mail this morning lost its load on Route 611 in Warrington, Bucks County. The accident at Rout 611 and Bristol Road occurred shortly after 7 a.m. and during the start of rush hour, hampering local traffic. Only one lane was getting by as crews at the scene worked to remove the truck and gather the mail. Hundreds of pieces of the multi-colored envelopes and other mail scattered across several lanes.

Lime and Fig Chicken Makes 4 servings 4 dried figs 1/3 cup hot water 4 or 5 limes Leaves from 2 stems each mint, cilantro 3 or 4 boneless, skinless chicken breast halves (11/4 pounds total) Kosher salt, fresh pepper 2 tablespoons olive oil 1/3 cup fig jam or spread 1. Stem the figs; cut into quarters. Place in a bowl and cover with the hot water.

A fatal accident in Moorestown is causing heavy delays on Route 38 at rush hour, near the stretch of highway where the female driver died around 1:30 p.m., police said. In the single-vehicle accident, a woman driving alone and heading eastbound on Route 38 between Fellowship Road and Moorestown-Mount Laurel Road veered off the road and struck a pole and several signs before striking a second pole and coming to a stop. When Moorestown police arrived minutes later, Lt. Lee Lieber said, the driver was dead at the scene.

A fast-moving snowstorm blew through the Philadelphia region late Friday afternoon, leaving minor accumulations and major rush-hour headaches. Moderate to heavy snowfall and below-freezing temperatures made navigating highways and side streets tricky and lengthened commutes considerably. The Pennsylvania Department of Transportation reported speed-limit reductions across the state. By 7 p.m., SEPTA's Regional Rail lines were experiencing delays of up to 30 minutes because of slippery tracks, the transit agency said.
