Katy Perry: Part of Me is not a concert film (although there is ample performance footage); it is not a chronicle of this Candy Land Gaga's life (although you do learn a great deal about her prefame years). Part of Me is Perry's visually spectacular testimonial to her own indomitable determination to follow her dreams. The fact that the film lends itself to some really colorful Pinterest pages is merely a bonus. The image that will stick with you is of Perry setting the spangled pinwheels on her chest spinning, striking a pose, holding up her sparkly microphone, and smiling to beat the bandwagon as the elevator platform she is standing on raises her up to stage level to face her adoring fans.

"I'm proud to be gay, and I consider being gay among the greatest gifts God has given me," says Apple head honcho Tim Cook in a new essay in Bloomberg Businessweek. Well, he may be proud, but he never acknowledged it publicly before. He said that announcing it "wasn't an easy choice. " May we someday have a world in which it's easy. As it is, some behind-the-timesers, I guess, have their knickers in a bunch. Cook is now one of the highest-ranking businesspeople of self-acknowledged same-sex orientation.

When remaking a popular film, you must remember this: First, do no harm to the original. Arthur accomplishes this, with Russell Brand slurring his way neatly through the title role Dudley Moore created in 1981: a lovable tosspot forced to choose between a staggering amount of money and love. Brand is nimble and quick as the marinated Manhattan playboy who can indulge his most outlandish and expensive whims. At one point, he bids against himself at an art auction, driving the price to astronomical levels by playing Punch and Judy with two numbered paddles.
