Will Philadelphia be the setting for another network sitcom? Maybe. People magazine reports this week that Ryan O'Neal is said to have a development deal with CBS for a new series called 1775, with him starring as an innkeeper in pre-Revolutionary War Philadelphia. He would have a wife and three daughters. Yesterday, CBS said it couldn't confirm the development deal. "We haven't announced anything yet," said a network spokeswoman. But city administration insiders said word of the potential 1775 series had reached them.

The first mainstream film to be directed by Norman Mailer (back in the '60s, he did a handful of improvisational efforts that bore a close resemblance to home movies)
