The NBA announced last week that a few of its teams would hold training camp overseas and play preseason games against European clubs in 2006 and 2007. None of the teams has been announced, but the 76ers are expected to be part of the mix. Yesterday, after predraft workouts at the Philadelphia College of Osteopathic Medicine, Sixers president and general manager Billy King said that nothing was official and many details still had to be worked out, but that "the plans are for us to be part of it. " While nothing is concrete, King mentioned that Germany and Spain could be two places where the Sixers might play exhibition games.

For the first time, the Federal Bureau of Prisons has evidence that its work and training programs are doing some good. A new study of 7,000 federal prisoners released from 1984 through 1986 shows that those who were trained behind bars were more likely to hold community jobs and less likely to slide back into a life of crime. Gaudio, a 6-8 power forward who sat out last season because of a bad back, said he was pain-free last night as he scored 18 of his 21 points in the second half of No. 10 Penn State's 61-58 victory over visiting Illinois. "I think yesterday and today, it's the best I have felt all year," said Gaudio, who came back to the team after one season as a student assistant coach.

After a whirlwind weekend, Chip Kelly and the Oregon Ducks are right back where they started. Oregon's enigmatic head coach flirted with a trio of NFL teams including the Eagles before deciding late Sunday night to stay with the No. 5 Ducks. On Monday, it was back to business. Kelly was at a coaches' convention in Tennessee. Oregon did not formally announce Kelly's decision - his status hadn't changed, he's still the head coach - but athletic director Rob Mullens said he was "ecstatic" about it. It was an anticlimactic end to the three-day whirl that started soon after Oregon's 35-17 Fiesta Bowl win over Kansas State Thursday night.
