OVER THE COURSE of Tattle's lengthy tattling career, virtually every nationality, ethnic group and religious sect has been offended by something done by some celebrity, movie or TV show. Today, we bring you the Hindus, who are mad at Selena Gomez for having a sparkling bindi on her head in an Indian-themed performance of "Come & Get It" at the MTV Movie Awards. Leaders at the Universal Society of Hinduism want Selena to apologize for wearing the religious adornment. "The bindi on the forehead is an ancient tradition in Hinduism and has religious significance," Rajan Zed told World Entertainment News Network.

Contrary to published reports, the arrival of actress, singer and Justin Bieber squeeze Selena Gomez at King of Prussia Mall won't be until about 6 this evening. What begins at 2 p.m. is the fan event, with makeovers variously described as "mini" and "princess," according to the mall. Starting at 6:30 p.m., she's slated to answer questions from fans for about 45 minutes to an hour. It all takes place in the Pavilion at King of Prussia (not the Court, as also widely misreported)

If all goes according to plan, Selena Gomez's 18th birthday celebration won't turn up in the tabloids or the scandalous Web site TMZ. "Oh my goodness!" she says. "TMZ? You are not seeing me on TMZ!" She turned 18 yesterday, the night before her big-screen debut in "Ramona and Beezus," and it was "going out to dinner with my grandma and grandpa, who're flying out for my birthday" - all part of her anti-tabloid life and career strategy. "I'm boring. I spend time with my family, hang out with my mom and with a few friends.

WHAT WITH all the juicy, men-behaving-badly gossip relegated to national (former CIA Director David Petraeus : need we say more?) and business news pages (Lockheed Martin honcho Christopher Kubasik resigned last week over a relationship with an employee), Tattle has to make do with . . . boys behaving mysteriously. Justin Bieber and Selena Gomez have broken up - yes, our world hiccupped on its axis, too, when we heard the news over the weekend. But why they've come undone is still in question.

POP STAR AND ACTRESS Selena Gomez joined "American Idol" host Ryan Seacrest at Children's Hospital of Philadelphia yesterday morning for the ribbon-cutting ceremony for The Voice, the multimedia center for patients that Seacrest's charitable foundation provided, reports Daily News columnist Dan Gross. The Daily News reported Thursday that Seacrest would be at CHOP yesterday, and Seacrest tweeted yesterday morning that Gomez would be a surprise guest. Once word spread about Gomez, rumors swirled that her boyfriend, Justin Bieber , would also attend the ceremony but, alas, it was not meant to be. Seacrest's girlfriend Julianne Hough , an actress and singer and former "Dancing with the Stars" pro, accompanied him to the event but stayed low-key.

Hazel Day fidgeted with her iPhone. She was remarkably quiet. If an out-of-body experience had a look , the Mount Airy teen had it in spades. No wonder: She was about to meet Selena Gomez face-to-face, one-on-one, in person and in private. Gomez, perhaps best known for her Disney TV show, Wizards of Waverly Place , was in town on a sunny Friday morning to introduce her affordable fashion line, Dream Out Loud, with a meet and greet at the Center City Kmart before taking the stage for her evening show at the Mann Center for the Performing Arts.

SELENA GOMEZ needs a nap. It was a week ago Monday at the Four Seasons Hotel and the 18-year-old actress/singer, who was hospitalized for exhaustion a few weeks back, has just flown in from Toronto, where the previous night she'd performed and hosted a major Canadian music-awards show. Between the post-show adrenaline rush and boyfriend Justin Bieber showing up to support her, Gomez had a late night and an early flight, and after two hours of interviews would be off to the King of Prussia Mall to greet thousands of screaming fans.

Selena Gomez flashes her string-of-pearls smile and black-olive eyes as 3,000 fans give her a rock-star welcome Monday at the King of Prussia Mall. The sound of Selenamania is an earsplitting squawk, something like that of squadrons of overexcited seagulls. Gomez, the recording sensation, star of the Disney TV series The Wizards of Waverly Place , and anchor of the Fox mistaken-identity comedy Monte Carlo (opening Friday), is buoyed by the shout-out. With self-assurance and self-doubt in dizzyingly equal proportions, Gomez, 18, is walking the tightrope from teen idol toward mature stardom in five-inch heels, struggling against the perception she's just a "Disney girl.

IT'S TAKEN a little more than 500 years to get to the root of William Shakespeare 's personality, but it turns out he was a bastard. According to a group of academics, the Bard was more Shylock than Puck, a ruthless businessman - hoarder, moneylender, tax dodger - who grew wealthy dealing in grain during a time of famine. You thought he just wrote plays, but researchers from Aberystwyth University, in Wales, argue that we can't fully understand Shakespeare unless we study his often-overlooked business savvy.
