In a stunning turn of events sure to send shock waves through the entertainment industry for generations to come, Simon "Darth Vader" Cowell has fired Paula Abdul - yes, Paula! - from her position as judge on Fox's The X Factor . But Paula isn't the only victim to be cruelly ejected from Si's Death Star: Host Steve Jones and judge Nicole Scherzinger also are out. It's shocking, considering that Si personally wooed and wheedled and begged Paula to join the show after American Idol gave her the heave-ho.

Prince William 's bachelor brother Prince Harry is about to put himself in harm's way - again. The Telegraph of London reports that Harry, who in April was promoted to captain in the British Army Air Corps, will be deployed next year - most likely back to Afghanistan. (His unit has been scheduled to fly there in 2012.) Harry's first tour in the war on terror was cut short in '08, when news reports compromised his position. He was bummed about his return from Helmand, saying "I severely hope" to be deployed again.

Rihanna , 24, who recently told Rolling Stone she's happy being back with old flame and convicted assailant Chris Brown , plans to do the red-carpet shuffle with the dude at Sunday's Grammy Awards, says HollywoodLife.com. Fact, the lovely Barbadian artist was in court this week to support Brown during a hearing on that very case! Brown, 23, was sentenced to five years probation in '09 when he was convicted of felony assault for striking Rihanna after a pre-Grammy bash.

As part of its agreement with the FCC and the Department of Justice, the media giant will launch four minority-owned networks on its cable-TV systems in the next two years. ENDING WEEKS OF SPECULATION and catty comments about how thin she's gotten, Demi Moore, 49, told the Associated Press yesterday that she is ending her marriage to 33-year-old Ashton Kutcher. The couple wed in September 2005. "It is with great sadness and a heavy heart that I have decided to end my six-year marriage to Ashton. As a woman, a mother and a wife there are certain values and vows that I hold sacred, and it is in this spirit that I have chosen to move forward with my life," she said in a statement.
