SO, HOW'D THEY DO? Prior to the U.S. Open, the Daily News asked various athletic celebrities for their picks. While nobody had winner Justin Rose, give Ryan Howard and Ed Rendell some credit for putting Jason Day in their trifectas and Denise Dillon and Cliff Lee the same for throwing in Phil Mickelson. Day and Mickelson finished tied for second. The majority of respondents went with Tiger Woods, who was the favorite at 4-1. Rory McIlroy, second on the Vegas board at 10-1, was also a popular pick.

A 31-year-old man was shot and killed overnight in Chester. Police were called to the 1000 block of Beverly Lane at 12:36 a.m. for shots fired, authorities said. They found a victim suffering from gunshots to the chest. He died at the scene, according to police Police withheld the man's name pending notification of family. If this shooting is ruled a homicide, it would be the city's sixth since January. This past weekend, two residents, a 40-year-old man and a 17-year-old boy, were killed by gunfire in separate incidents.

Authorities are investigating the shooting of a man found dead early Thursday - his 51st birthday - at the end his Galloway Township home's driveway, acting Atlantic County Prosecutor Jim McClain said. Shortly after 2 a.m., Galloway Township police responded to the shooting on Falling Leaf Court where they found the mortally wounded Wlio Delos Santos. He was shot at least once, authorities said. The death remains under investigation by the Atlantic County Prosecutor's Office Major Crimes Unit and Galloway police.

FORMER Daily News Public League Player of the Year Sharrif Floyd said he will leave the University of Florida for the NFL draft. "It's a blessing that I'm going to get a chance to do what a lot of players want to do," Floyd told Florida Today . "My dream is going to come true. " Floyd, who graduated from George Washington High, said his successful junior season with the Gators influenced his decision. "The fact that my coaches gave me their blessing and said, 'Go, you're ready, good luck to you,' " Floyd told the newspaper.

Philadelphia Common Pleas Court Judge Adam Beloff committed suicide Friday, several people who knew him said Sunday. Beloff, 48, apparently hanged himself, said a source in the First Judicial District, who could not confirm where it happened. The source asked not to be named because the district has yet to issue a formal statement. Beloff, who lived in South Philadelphia and had a house in Ventnor, N.J., was elected in 2009 despite not being endorsed by the Democratic Party in the primary.
