THE SOUL'S game next Friday at Tampa Bay has been pushed back a day because of an NHL playoff game. The NHL Lightning share the Amalie Arena with the Tampa Bay Storm and the hockey league has scheduled Game 4 of the Eastern Conference finals for next Friday. It means an extra off day for the Soul, which are busing to Tampa following tomorrow night's game at Jacksonville. Lightning ownership, which also owns the Storm, will pick up an approximate $15,000 tab for the Soul having to change flights and stay another night in a hotel.

The Eagles announced yesterday that cornerback JaCorey Shepherd, their sixth-round draft choice from Kansas, has agreed to terms with the club on a four-year contract. Quick signings of draft choices are some of the results of recent NFL collective bargaining agreements, which leave teams with a set amount of money they can spend on rookies, based upon their draft position. Gone, for the most part, are the days of long summer holdouts. Shepherd's signing leaves only one unsigned pick from this year's draft class: linebacker Jordan Hicks, their third-round choice from Texas.

All six will start a weekend rookie camp today, along with the team's 16 undrafted free agents, six guys from last year's practice squad, and 11 tryout players who will be seeking contracts.
